The Rick Ross threats may not easily scare the rapper but the Chicago Police Department is taking them seriously. According to TMZ, the Chicago PD has launched an investigation into death threats made against Ross by a Chicago gang, the Gangster Disciples.
The Gangster Disciples made the threat against Ross in a YouTube video posted a few weeks ago. In the video, the gangsters demand Ross cut a check to Gangster Disciples founder Larry Hoover, who is serving life sentence in federal prison, or else there will be “trouble.” The video is extremely NSFW and the many uses of the n-word might have colleagues turning their heads, wondering if you’re listening to a KKK rant.
The Gangster Disciples are angry that Rick Ross mentioned Larry Hoover in his 2010 single, “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast).” Ross is also accused of stealing the group’s Star of David logo for the cover of his latest mixtape, “The Black Bar Mitzvah.”
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the Rick Ross threats were supposedly not the reason that the rapper cancelled his tour. Instead, Rick Ross desired to put promoter Shawn Gee in his place after Gee dropped three shows without the rapper’s permission. The death threats do not scare Rick Ross and he has no desire to retaliate or to lead the gangster life.
“I canceled the rest of the tour due to the promoter, he wasn’t really handlin’ his business,” the 36-year-old rapper explained on YouTube. “Once they began to unravel, I shut it down. Never was it due to any threats. Any dude can stand in a crowd with 30 or 40 dudes and everybody real, everybody trill, everybody ’bout that life, everybody gangsta. But when the choppers come out, everybody fold.”
What do you think about the Rick Ross threats? More than a quarter of murders victims in Chicago can be attributed to gang violence. Other rappers like Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. have felt its sting. Do you think Rick Ross has a reason to be scared of the Gangster Disciples?
