Britney Spears Gets Cancer Facility Named After Her, Calls It Her Proudest Moment

Britney Spears is doing amazing things for sick children diagnosed with cancer.

It was announced this week that the pop superstar has managed to raise a huge $1 million for children suffering from cancer and will be using the cash to build a brand new treatment facility at the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The huge amount of money raised by the pop superstar will go towards building the Britney Spears Campus in Nevada, which will be a 16,000 square-foot facility that will home 45 pediatric and adult services, according to People.

Britney expressed her joy at being able to open the Britney Spears campus when she recounted the sad story of how she previously lost her 59-year-old aunt to cancer, which is why raising money for such a worthy cause is so close to her heart.

“My aunt Sandra died of cancer and I know the devastating effects that this terrible disease brings upon its victims and their loved ones,” Spears said, recalling the loss of her late aunt to ovarian cancer a decade ago in 2007. “But when it happens to innocent young children, there’s literally nothing I can think of worse than that.”

The mom of two boys – Sean Preston and Jayden James – then added that she was happy to help “in some small way” and also said that being able to donate the $1 million to the non-profit corporation is her proudest achievement in her long career that first began with the release of her debut single, “…Baby One More Time,” back in 1999.

“There are many things I’ve done in my career that I am proud of, but none more than this,” she said.

Britney also claimed that being able to help sick children and their families “brings many tears to [her] eyes” and also “brings tremendous meaning to this amazing journey that [she’s] been on” over the past almost two decades as a pop star.

The $1 million was raised by Spears through donations from thousands of tickets sold for her “Piece of Me” Las Vegas residency shows at The AXIS auditorium at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Other donations added together to make the huge figure also came in from Zappos, Live Nation, Caesars Entertainment, and a number of other big businesses associated with Britney’s wildly popular Sin City shows.

Spears incredible charity efforts come just days after the legendary performer gave fans a huge surprise by performing completely live during a recent concert in Singapore.

Though the star is famed for lip syncing along to her songs during her shows because of her heavy dancing, the singer showcased her live raw vocals with no backing track for what’s thought to have been the first time in years after launching into an impromptu rendition of “Happy Birthday” for a crew member.

The performance surprised fans shortly after Britney suffered a pretty awkward moment on stage during another stop in Asia when she totally forgot where she was performing and had to ask a dancer live on stage.
