Demi Lovato Dodges Her Sexuality, Shows Support For The LGBT Community

Demi Lovato’s sexuality has been a hot topic for years. She’s kept quiet about it for the most part. Rumors swirled once again when she dropped the single “Cool For The Summer” during the summer of 2015. Demi Lovato has always supported the LGBT community. Last month, Lovato wrote a “love letter” to the members of the community, via Billboard.

“This is for some of my closest friends, for the young gay men who dance their hearts out at my shows, for the fabulous drag queens at bingo night who own every room they walk into, and for a wonderful and kind community who have embraced, loved, and championed me for as long as I can remember,” she wrote.

“Every single interaction I’ve ever had with the LGBTQ community has always been filled with pure love, enthusiasm, and passion for life. I know there are millions of people out there who feel exactly the same way as I do.”

This love letter comes after Demi Lovato found herself in a feud with Halsey. The singer told Paper Magazine that bisexuality was exploited in pop music. She placed the blame on Katy Perry and Demi Lovato. She called out Lovato by referencing the lyrics to her hit song “Cool For The Summer.”

“There’s bi-phobia from the straight community and from the LGBT community,” Halsey said. “Oh, yeah. Bisexuality as a taboo. ‘Don’t tell your mom’ or ‘We shouldn’t do this’ or ‘This feels so wrong but it’s so right.'”

Lovato took to Twitter to slam the “Now or Never” singer.

“You know a song is a hit when people are still talking about the lyrics two years later. #shhhhdonttellyourmother.”

Demi Lovato has shied away from labeling her sexuality in the past. She even won a GLAAD Vanguard Award last year for her support of the LGBTQ community. But, Lovato decided to still be coy when it comes to her sexuality. For the most part, Lovato has been in an on-and-off long-term relationship with Wilmer Valderrama in the past. She’s also been linked to MMA fighters Guilherme Vasconcelos and Luke Rockhold. She’s also been rumored to have hooked up with Rob Kardashian back in 2010. But, Lovato has not openly dated a woman.

Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose once hinted that she hooked up with the former Disney star. In 2013, the Australian actress revealed on Twitter that she slept with the singer. Lovato responded to Rose’s claims during her interview with Complex magazine as “rumors.” She insisted that while “love is fluid,” she was not in a relationship with the actress.
