Josh Brent Invited To Funeral By Jerry Brown’s Mother

Dallas Cowboys player Josh Brent may be responsible for the death of teammate Jerry Brown but Brown’s mother still wants him at the funeral.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Brown’s mother is hoping that Brent with sit with the family during the funeral service today.

Brown’s mother, Stacey Jackson, said:

“I know Josh Brent and he’s been part of our family since Jerry went to the University of Illinois … All I can do is to pray for him and his family because I know he is hurting just as much as we are, because (he) and Jerry were like brothers.”

Brown and Brent were best friends, according to Brown’s mother. They were college roommates, college teammates, and up until Brown’s death last week they were teammates on the Dallas Cowboys.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said:

“We want to embrace Josh and let him know that this is a good place for him … Being around Valley Ranch, being around his teammates (and) coaches is a good thing for him. We certainly anticipate him being there tomorrow. I haven’t spoken to him specifically about that, but we anticipate it and he’s certainly welcome to be there. We’re going to support Josh 100 percent in every way that we can. The players will do that, the coaches will do that and everyone in our organization will do that. … We all love him and we’re going to be there for him.”

Brent was allegedly driving while intoxicated last week when he crashed his car in Illinois. Brown died in the car crash and Brent was charged with intoxicated manslaughter. He is currently out on $500,000 bail.
