‘The Lone Ranger’ Saddles Up With A New Trailer [Video]

The new trailer for director Gore Verbinski’s upcoming western The Lone Ranger has found its way online.

Fans of Johnny Depp will certainly want to focus their attention on the latest preview, which finds the veteran actor shirtless and talking to horses. Even if you disagree with the amount of attention Depp’s character is receiving, it’s hard to deny the embedded trailer’s many charms.

According to Deadline, the latest promotional video for The Lone Ranger runs about a minute longer than its predecessor. Unfortunately for fans of the source material, the titular character’s trademark battle cry is absent from the new clip.

The official plot synopsis for the film reads as follows:

“Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice-taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.”

This isn’t Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski first time at the proverbial rodeo. The two famously joined forces Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, a series of films that gave birth to one of the actor’s most memorable characters.

Although Depp knows what to expect when working with Verbinski, the actor is reportedly coming to terms with not being able to do his own stunt work anymore. A source close to the production said Depp injured his back while filming The Lone Ranger.

The anonymous individual explained:

“While it’s been hard to accept that he can’t perform such demanding feats anymore, Johnny is seeing it. He threw out his back twice while shooting the movie and then had to push through, getting massages in between takes.”

The latest trailer for The Lone Ranger has been embedded below. The film rides into theaters next summer. Are you looking forward to Johnny Depp’s next movie?
