Jermain Taylor Hospitalized With Concussion After KO In ”Super Six’ Bout

Berlin, Germany (AHN) – Jermain Taylor was hospitalized after suffering a severe concussion following a knockout courtesy of “King” Arthur Abraham in the closing seconds of the 12-round super middleweight fight Saturday in Berlin.
Former undisputed middleweight champ Taylor, who outpointed Bernard Hopkins in 2005 to claim the undisputed middleweight crown, took a nasty right hand to the chin with six ticks remaining in the bout.
He left the ring on his own power after the knockout in the installment of Showtime’s Super Six World Boxing Classic six-man super middleweight tournament.
Taylor will reportedly remain in the hospital for several days.
It is uncertain if Taylor (28-4-1, 17 KOs) would continue the modified round-robin Super Six tournament, which features former middleweight champions.
Apart from Abraham (31-0, 25 KOs), other boxers participating in the tourney are Andre Ward, Mikkel Kessler, Andre Dirrell and Carl Froch.
Incidentally, Taylor was also sent to the canvass with 14 seconds left in the 12th round in his previous bout in April against titleholder Froch.
Taylor has absorbed four setbacks in his last five bouts, including three by knockout.
