Zou Kai

London, England (AHN) – Zou Kai of China added a world title to his Olympic gold medal on high bar, as the Chinese contingent finished with six golds at the world gymnastics championships Sunday at London’s O2 Arena.

Apart from Zou’s gold, Deng Linlin topped the women’s final in the balance beam, while Wang Guanyin ruled the parallel bars, giving China three golds in the final day of the tournament.

In the floor exercises, Britain’s most beloved gymnast, Beth Tweddle, won her second world title after a stellar performance in the floor event.

Local bet Tweddle’s degree of difficulty gave her an edge over closest competitor Lauren Mitchell of Australia, who finished second with 14.550 points.

Tweddle, world champion on uneven bars in 2006, amassed a total of 14.660 points. China’s Lu Sui finished third with 14.300.

While in the men’s vault’s finals, Romania’s Marian Dragulescu took the title with 16.575 points, outpointing compatriot Flavius Koczi (16.337), who came in second.

American Ivana Hong gave the United States its lone medal Sunday, a bronze on the balance beam. The American contingent brings home a total of five medals.
