John McAfee Movie Rumored To Be In The Works

John McAfee, the eccentric billionaire who went from software designer to fugitive, is now rumored to be the focus of a new movie. A McAfee movie might once again prove the old adage that truth is stranger than fiction. The tale of the anti-virus software designer’s life would surely be an interesting story to watch.

Although leading men such as Kevin Costner or George Clooney might be on the short list to play McAfee, Willem Defoe would fit the part perfectly. Dafoe’s portrayal of “Elias” in Platoon showcased his ability to be both enigmatic and eerily quirky in a seamless fashion.

The twists and turns in John McAfee’s life should make the screenwriting teams’ job very easy. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, McAfee is a person of interest in the murder of his neighbor in Belize. He led law enforcement officers on a spiraling chase before he was dramatically captured and ultimately rushed to the hospital last week.

After his request to Guatemala officials for asylum was denied, McAfee granted exclusive rights to his life story to Impact Future Media, according to Radar Online. Co-founder of the Canadian company Brian Fitzgerald had this to say about the project during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

“McAfee trusts that we will honor his life story in an honest and truthful manner.”

The movie about John McAfee’s life has tentatively been titled, Running in the Background: The True Story of John McAfee. The 67-year-old billionaire stated his gratitude to Impact Future Media. The anti-virus software designer reportedly considers Impact cartoonist Chad Essley his best friend. Essley illustrates McAfee’s blog.
