Man Fell From The Sky: Neighbors Remember African Stowaway

London, England – A man fell from the sky to hit the sidewalk in London. According to Fox News, British police had originally thought that the African man was a murder victim. But then they realized the man had literally fell from the sky when a jet passing overhead lowered its landing gear as it neared the runway at nearby Heathrow Airport. The man’s unlikely death has haunted the neighbors of the quiet London neighborhood.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, police believe the “Falling Man” was a stowaway and that he was dead even before he fell to the ground on a suburban street in the Mortlake neighborhood of West London. Neighbors awoke to a loud thud, finding a crumpled body nearby.

“It was scary, there was a body on the street, and nobody knew at first that he had fallen from a plane,” neighbor Stephanie Prudhomme said. “There were police everywhere.”

The incident took place on September 9, but even three months later the identity of the man remains a mystery three months later. The purported African carried no identification, but police believe he may have been from Angola based upon currency found in his jean pockets. They are asking the general public to help identify the man, whose death has traumatized the neighborhood.

“There is great sadness,” said Catherine Lambert, who lives a few doors down from the spot where the stowaway landed. “To think that the end of the line for him is a suburban street, miles away from his world.”

The event shattered the neighborhood’s sense of being immune from the world’s troubles, a feeling compounded by the inability of police to identify the man.

“I felt, what was he running away from?” said Lambert. “What made him think he could survive? And how will his family ever know? He’s a lost soul now; his father and mother are probably waiting for him to make contact.”

In the days after the macabre discovery, some residents moved by the man’s death placed flowers at the spot where his body landed. Unofficial representatives of London’s Angolan community trekked to Mortlake to pay their respects to the man, leaving prayers and flowers, even though no one knew who he was.

Some are still unwilling to discuss the falling man.

“Is this about the man from the sky?” asked one woman when approached by reporters. “I don’t want to talk about it. That was my house.”

People like her removed the flowers from the sidewalk for fears that it would become an unwanted, permanent shrine to the unknown passenger. Even months after the sidewalk have been cleaned residents and local workers are still talking about the man.

“It was just a strange thing,” said Jay Sivapalan, 29, an employee at the Variety Box convenience store near where the body landed.

The man who fell from the sky will probably be remembered for years in this quiet London neighborhood. Do any of you have any hypotheses for what happened to the stowaway from Africa?

We had something similar happen here in Arizona a few years back. Someone reported human body parts scattered on the interstate over a stretch of several miles. As it turned out there had been a serious accident the day before in the state of Texas some 800 miles away in which a man was ejected from his van on to the interstate where he was ran over by a tractor trailer. Witnesses saw the truck hit the guy but no body was ever found. Turns out he was flipped up into the under-carriage and stayed there until he was jarred loose just outside of Marana Arizona. It took several days before both mysteries were solved.

Usually in these cases, its from lack of oxygen, depressurization, or freezing to death.

I should hope that the angola embassy took photos of the man and publicized them in angola at the point of departure of this airplane. it seems clear that the stowaway came from the plane's point of departure, wherever that was. obviously he was not a literate person or he would have known that he could not survive in an unpressurized part of the airplane. what a tragic misjudgment. probably either very poor with no chance otherwise to get to america, or on the run for some reason. I sincerely hope a real effort is made to locate his next of kin in angola.
