‘Dark Knight Rises’ Lands On American Film Institute’s Top Movies Of 2012 List
The American Film Institute has unveiled its Top 10 Movies of 2012 list, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Although the organization doesn’t put the films into any discerning order, they do select the films they feel were the cream of the proverbial crop. You can find a complete list of winners towards the bottom of this very article.
Included on this year’s list is director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, the final epic installment in his legendary Batman franchise. Although the movie is facing some stiff competition in the awards department, fans are keeping their fingers crossed that the flick could score an Oscar when all is said and done.
A number of movies featured on this year’s AFI Top 10 Movies list are strong contenders for Academy Awards. Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, Kathyrn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty, and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained are all receiving quite a bit of Oscar buzz at the moment.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the organization has also compiled a list of 2012’s top television programs. Breaking Bad fans will be happy to know the beloved crime drama has found its way onto the list. HBO’s Game of Thrones, AMC’s The Walking Dead, and Louis C.K.’s Louie also made the cut.
Many feel that The Dark Knight Rises’ inclusion on the American Film Institute’s list suggests the superhero epic could be up for at least one Oscar at next year’s Academy Awards ceremony.
