TI OMAP-DM5X Coprocessors Bring 20MP Camera, 720P Recording To Cell Phones


At least several times a year Texas Instruments announces a new coprocessor, typically promising that an HD recording capable processor is just around the corner. Now with the TI OMAP-DM5X coprocessor series announced it looks like 720p camera phone recording is finally getting ready to arrive.

The OMAP-DM525 specifically, can reach 720p video recording, while bringing 20 megapixel imaging to the masses.

Unfortunately there’s no word on when these processors may be utilized, hopefully they’ll pop up at CES in January 2010.
