Jamie Foxx ‘SNL’ Ding Dong Sketch Pokes Fun At Hostess Bankruptcy [Video]

Jamie Foxx is earning great marks for his SNL Ding Dong sketch that saw the actor reborn as the nemesis of Twinkies to make fun of the bankruptcy of Hostess.

The performance won over critics of Foxx’s SNL performance, Vibe noted. In the sketch, Jamie Foxx dressed up as the now-gone snack cake and lamented how no one is giving the Ding Dong attention that Twinkies are getting.

The entire SNL performance earned a big thumbs up to Foxx from television critics. In his second stint hosting Saturday Night Live, Foxx got a chance to show off his many talents, including singing, rapping, acting, and even cross-dressing.

In one sketch, Foxx played the Tyler Perry role Madea in a buddy cop crossover with Perry’s latest film, Alex Cross. The sketch, called Alex Cross 2 — Madea: Special Ops, featured Foxx-as-Perry playing the roles of both the crime novel detective Alex Cross and boisterous grandmother Madea.

In another sketch, Foxx starred in a new television show called Maine Justice. He played a Jheri curled bailiff opposite a Southern judge played by Jason Sudeikis.

But the crowning jewel of the night was the Jamie Foxx SNL Ding Dong sketch. TV Guide noted:

“Weeks after the sudden bankruptcy and closure of Hostess, Foxx dressed as dearly departed snack cake Ding Dong to lament the amount of attention given to his “snack brother from another batter”: Twinkie. ‘Y’all act like Twinkie is the only one with a delicious, creamy filling,’ he said before accusing America of ‘snack profiling.’ At least he now has time to return to the rap game.”
