John McAfee Hopes To Return To US ‘As Soon As Possible’

Guatemala City – Eccentric software guru John McAfee is fighting deportation from Guatemala to Belize, and is hoping to be back in the United States as soon as possible.

McAfee is wanted for questioning regarding the death of Gregory Faull, a fellow American and former neighbor who was found dead several weeks ago. McAfee is a “person of interest” in Faull’s possible murder, though authorities say that he is not a prime suspect in the investigation (of course, running from the authorities can’t help).

“My goal is to get back to America as soon as possible,” McAfee, 67, said in a phone call to Reuters from the facility he is being held in. “I wish I could just pack my bags and go to Miami,” he continued. “I don’t think I fully understood the political situation. I’m an embarrassment to the Guatemalan government and I’m jeopardizing their relationship with Belize.”

McAfee has denied any role in Faull’s killing, and claims that Belize’s authorities are attempting to trap him in a conspiracy, possibly leading to his assassination. Belize’s prime minister has called McAfee “paranoid” and his claims “bonkers” (actual quote).

Still, McAfee believes he is being framed. “People are saying I’m paranoid and crazy but it’s difficult for people to comprehend what has been happening to me,” he said. “It’s so unusual, so out of the mainstream.”

McAfee started a blog while on the run called whoismcafee, containing a detailed chronicle of his life on the lam, mundane cultural observati0ns, and transcripts that speak to his “greater conspiracy.” The erratic thread is hard to follow, and even members of Vice Magazine on the run with McAfee lost their grip on their already tenuous understanding of him before too long.

One of their most recent updates regarding John McAfee was aptly titled: “Quite Frankly, We Don’t Know What The F*** Is Going On.”

Do you think John McAfee will make it to the US?
