Miley Cyrus has been showing less of her wild side ever since news of her reconciliation with ex-fiance Liam Hemsworth surfaced. Last month, she has revealed in an interview with Billboard that she’s decided to become clean and quit smoking marijuana. Most people assume that Liam has to do with Miley’s change of lifestyle, but during her recent appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the Hannah Montana star revealed the real reason she quit.
On Wednesday, the audience got to see a more covered-up Miley, as opposed to her previous appearances on talk shows where she had to show a lot of skin. She also opened up to Fallon about her marijuana use, saying that she had suffered horrible nightmares.
The “We Can’t Stop” hitmaker shared her experiences while she was still smoking weed, explaining that while nobody died from it, she didn’t know anyone who smoked marijuana as much as she did. She would show up to talk shows stoned, just like that time she was on Fallon’s show in October 2015. Miley admitted that her state of being high made her come to the set in wacky costumes like a bunny rabbit or a cat.
The former The Voice judge also recalled having a nightmare of getting too stoned that she’ll die in the middle of a Saturday Night Live performance.
“I had a dream that I would die during my monolog on SNL for some reason. That I would just get so stoned that I’d just, like, died – which I’ve Googled and that’s never happened.”
The 24-year-old also expressed just how much she loved and enjoyed working on her sixth studio album. The yet-to-be-titled album is important for Miley, which is why she needed to be clean to clearly explain to people what her music is all about.
While her nightmares may contribute to her decision to quit marijuana more than Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus previously revealed to Billboard that their reunion partially inspired her latest single, “Malibu.” The pair got engaged but shortly called it quits in 2013. The Last Song actors reunited in 2016 and now share a property in Malibu.
“They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam. So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, ‘This is how I feel?'”
Fans will have to watch out for Cyrus’ new album, which contains songs about love and even politics. A release date has yet to be announced, but reports have it that it will be due sometime late this year.
