Keanu Reeves To Cameo In ‘John Wick’ TV Spin-Off, Chapter 3 In The Works

Keanu Reeves is reportedly set to appear in the highly anticipated John Wick TV spin-off, The Continental.

In a recent report by IndieWire, Chad Stahelski, the man behind the blockbuster hit John Wick: Chapter 2, revealed that a TV spin-off series is currently in the works. The filmmaker, who teamed up with screenwriter Derek Kolstad, added that The Continental is being developed at Lionsgate and will be a prequel to the films.

Fans of the action-packed franchise shouldn’t get too excited though, as Stahelski already gave a heads up that the spin-off will not focus on Keanu Reeve’s character, John Wick. Instead, the TV series will feature The Continental, which was featured in the movies.

John Wick: Chapter 2 introduced the world to The Continental, a hotel chain that serves as a respite for assassins such as Wick. The chain also serves as an access point to resources needed to accomplish specific jobs.

In the movie, Keanu Reeves’ character violated the rule of doing “business” on the hotel grounds and faced repercussions leading to the third installment of John Wick franchise.

Although Lionsgate has not confirmed Keanu Reeves’ role in the upcoming series, Stahelski is confident that the 52-year-old actor will most likely make a cameo appearance despite his busy schedule with John Wick: Chapter 3 and other ongoing projects.

“I think he would make an appearance. I think that’s part of his thing, [But the series] isn’t centered around John Wick.”

Stahelski also expressed his excitement about doing the John Wick TV spin-off, especially since it will be “very tied to the movie.” The director revealed that he has always been keen on expanding his projects on television in order to tell stories of all the different characters and not just the lead role.

“I like telling stories from my one character’s perspective. Once you put that aside with the TV show, [you can] expand to all the different characters and follow them throughout their journey. You can be with the consigliere, concierge, the sommelier — you can be with all these different characters and walk through the world in different aspects; ones that I’m a little limited [from exploring] by staying with my lead guy.”

Meanwhile, Lionsgate has not made any announcement on who is officially writing The Continental. However, Stahelski revealed that he wants to stay as involved as time allows, especially with his hectic schedule. No official word yet on when the John Wick TV spin-off will be released.

“Currently, I’d like to stay involved throughout the development stage and hopefully direct a couple of episodes.”

As for John Wick: Chapter 3, fans can expect to see a film that is closely connected to the previous installments. According to Stahelski, his goal is to have all three films appeared as one. He also revealed that he would love to work with Laurence Fishburne again in John Wick: Chapter 3.

“I would like to have all three films… you could watch them back to back to back and it would seem like one movie.”
