Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi Divorce Rumors Heat Up, Ellen Spotted Without Wedding Ring In Instagram Pic
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi divorce rumors are heating up, and a recent Instagram post showing Ellen without her wedding ring is adding ever more fuel to the fire, International Business Times is reporting.
The rumors got started a couple of weeks ago, thanks to In Touch Weekly, some paparazzi photos, and an anonymous, “insider source.” DeGeneres, 59, and Portia (real name: Amanda Lee Rogers), 44, have been married for nine years. However, the tabloid magazine began speculating that something was amiss in their marriage when a paparazzo spotted the Finding Dory star out and about in L.A. without her wedding ring.
If that weren’t “evidence” enough, an anonymous source came in to claim that the pair were headed towards Splitsville.
“It’s happening. She and Portia are breaking up… There’s no turning back. It’s just a matter of time before the whole world knows.”
As for why they’re breaking up: the insider claims it has to do with Ellen’s career overshadowing Portia’s.
“Bottom line, Portia feels Ellen didn’t let her be herself or develop her acting career more. She said she needs to break free or she’s going to snap.”
At this point, it bears noting that information from “anonymous, insider sources” is not always reliable, and in fact, you, this writer, or anyone else can call up a gossip magazine like In Touch Weekly and give our “insider scoop,” without any evidence or repercussions. And if it’s juicy enough, and believable enough, someone is going to run with it. It also bears noting that Ellen and Portia’s divorce has been predicted by In Touch Weekly before, falsely, as recently as November 2016.
Unfortunately, Portia isn’t doing herself any favors, as far as putting the divorce rumors to rest, by a picture she posted recently on Instagram. In the photo, which you can see below, you can see very clearly on Ellen’s left hand that she’s not wearing a wedding ring.
Of course, it stands to reason that, if Ellen and Portia really were divorcing, they wouldn’t be posting adoring photos of each other on social media.
But then again, perhaps they’re maintaining a charade of having a happy marriage to preserve Ellen’s public image? It’s a claim hinted at by the same “insider source” that got the rumor mill going.
“Ellen wants to protect her reputation and her brand.”
As of this writing, neither Ellen DeGeneres nor Portia de Rossi has publicly commented on these divorce rumors. What’s more, Ellen most likely won’t be responding, as she generally makes it a point to ignore gossip about her.
