Kansas Rapist Breaks Into An Apartment, Allegedly Sexually Assaults A 7-Year-Old Girl, Then Vanishes

Wichita, Kansas police are looking for a person who entered an apartment, allegedly sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl, then vanished without a trace, KAKE news reported.

The Details Of The Incident

Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said in a press release that the incident happened around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, on the West side of town. The suspect entered the residence and sexually assaulted the child, inflicting significant injuries.

The child’s mother woke up to her daughter’s screams. Her daughter told her what happened to her and she immediately called the local police.

Woodrow said that as of Tuesday, June 13, the child remained in the hospital.

The Suspect

The suspect was described as a white male, clean-shaven, light colored hair, wearing jeans. The young girl was not sure what shirt he was wearing at the time of the attack.

Woodrow explained that the assault was concerning and Wichita has put a “considerable” amount of resources to catch the man responsible for hospitalizing the 7-year-old girl. The Wichita Police Force is determined to locate the attacker, arrest him, and make sure he stays in jail for a long time.

The Manhunt

According to KSN, neighbors of the young girl are still upset by the news that she was attacked inside her home in the middle of the night. It doesn’t help that the police has not revealed too much information about the case, only the description, what the suspect did, and that he is still at large.

One neighbor said that following the attack, the area doesn’t feel as safe anymore. They never thought that something like this would happen, noting that kids are playing outside all the time.

She recalls the mother of the child knocking on her door frantically in the middle of the night asking to borrow her phone. She told her something horrible happened at her house and she needed the police immediately.

The police have not revealed how the suspect gained entry into the apartment, but neighbors explained that they felt like buying “extra locks” to keep themselves safe in the middle of the night.

The police will continue to follow any lead they receive and feel confident that, in time, they will apprehend the attacker.

The local hospital listed the young girl in stable condition.
