Will Keith Urban Be Back As A Judge On ‘American Idol’? Country Star Dishes On Possibility Of Return

The American Idol reboot is happening, and Keith Urban may just be sitting at the judges’ table once again. While the only confirmed judge so far is Katy Perry, ABC has been busy trying to snag other celebrities who will be joining her. There have been a few names that have popped up, and the country singer is just one who may have another chance to make a comeback to the newly revamped show.

In a recent interview that Keith Urban had with CMT’s Cody Alan, he briefly discussed whether he would be willing to head back to the singing competition as a judge. According to the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” crooner, he said that he would definitely consider going back to judge the contestants. However, he mentioned that there are some moving parts when it comes to working it all out.

“There’s a lot of moving parts. That’s a good political answer, isn’t it? But it’s also quite true of the state of it right now. There’s a lot of moving parts in everybody’s camps. We’ll see what happens.”

That was about all he said about making a return to American Idol, but it did reveal that there is a good possibility that it could happen. Even though he didn’t come right out and say it, it does sound like he has been in talks with ABC. However, that has not been confirmed. Urban isn’t saying much, but at least he is thinking about it.

The moving parts that he mentions most likely have to do with scheduling and making sure they get a panel of judges who will blend together perfectly such as Keith Urban did with Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. The 49-year-old country star sat at the judges’ table together with those two until the show ended in 2016.

There has not been much talk on whether Harry or Jennifer would be considered for the reboot. However, other high-profile names have come up, including a few former American Idol contestants. Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry have been mentioned, as well as country superstar Carrie Underwood.

It would be interesting to have both Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood judging together. They recently teamed up for their hit song, “The Fighter,” which they just performed on stage last week at the 2017 CMT Awards. They also won the Collaborative Video of the Year for the same tune.

More news will be revealed soon on who will be sitting next to Katy Perry at the judges’ table. The American Idol reboot is expected to make its way to ABC in 2018. Would you like to see Keith Urban return? Who else would make a good judge?
