‘Teen Mom OG’ Drug Scandal: Catelynn Lowell Given Pills By Amber Portwood’s Ex, Matt Baier

Matt Baier and Amber Portwood have officially called it quits, but one reason the pair split has to do with their co-star, Catelynn Lowell.

The drama kicked off when the Teen Mom OG cast members flew to New York City to do press for the show. Baier, a former drug addict who has stated recently that him calling Amber a “psycho” during their trip to Las Vegas had to do with a relapse, gave cast member Catelynn Lowell a Xanax to help her calm down and keep her anxiety in check.

While this normally might not be a huge deal, Catelynn Lowell has suffered from anxiety so badly in the past that it has forced her to be hospitalized. Baier also didn’t take into account any other medication the reality TV star may be taking.

Secondly, Baier is a recovering addict, and his fiancée, Amber Portwood, was livid that he even had pills on him. Since she is also close friends with Catelynn Lowell and has suffered drug problems herself, the mother of one was also extremely concerned for her friend.

Amber explained the situation.

“We’re in New York to do press for the show and Cate was having a lot of anxiety. I found out Matt gave her a Xanax and I’m freaking out because he shouldn’t have any if he’s clean.”

Baier evidently told Catelynn Lowell she shouldn’t worry about his sobriety because he brought the Xanax just in case Amber needed it on the plane. He went on to say that if he were really a junkie, he would have already swallowed the pill instead of having it in his pocket.

Catelynn Lowell has been silent about the pill incident since the show’s most recent episode aired, however, Baier insists he was just trying to help her. He evidently ranted to a Teen Mom OG producer that Amber was treating him in a way that was unfair and acting like he is still taking drugs.

It was this event that spurred Amber to originally call off their wedding for a second time. Although Matt has insisted that the pair is still together and doing well, Amber has hinted that they are no longer together. During an Instagram Live session, she was asked if she and Matt were still together, and answered vaguely, asking her audience if they see him there with her now. She also stated that she wanted more kids in the future, but wants to wait until she finds the right man, insinuating that Baier isn’t cutting it anymore.

Although Catelynn Lowell hasn’t addressed taking the Xanax, she did tweet that she supports Amber and their fellow co-star, Maci Bookout, no matter what curveballs life throws at them.
