Katy Perry Ranks Ex-Lovers And Reveals Who ‘The One That Got Away’ Is About

To avoid eating a thousand-year-old egg during a Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts game with James Corden, Katy Perry very awkwardly had to rank ex-lovers Orlando Bloom, John Mayer, and Diplo based on their performance in bed. The pop star was pressured into answering the question during her Witness World Wide live streaming session with the “Carpool Karaoke” host.

“From best to worst in bed, rank John Mayer, Diplo and Orlando Bloom,” Corden asked cheekily to a mortified Katy.

“No, no, no, no, I will not do that,” screeched Perry, who later on screamed, “They’re all amazing and I would have sex with all of them after I get out of this place!”

When Corden placated her by saying, “Let’s just say they’re all in your top three,” Katy shocked him by answering, “Um, are they? Josh Groban is in there.”

But Katy was quick to clarify that she was joking and that Groban wasn’t really in there. She did reveal though that the song “The One That Got Away” was actually about her good friend, Josh.

According to the Daily Mail, back in 2009, Perry had romanced Groban. In 2010, she wrote “The One That Got Away” but never revealed the identity of the person she was singing about. Katy had just released “I Kissed a Girl” and her album One of the Boys when she and Josh started hanging out. Prior to him, Katy was linked to Travie McCoy. Meanwhile, Josh went on to date Kat Dennings.

In 2013, Josh would go on to say that he and Katy were just friends, but they “might have skated on the line of dating.” Come 2017, Katy admits that the poignant song about regret and lost love is about Josh.

This only momentarily stuns Corden; he goes back to grilling Perry about the her ex-lovers’ ranking, helping her out by putting Diplo in third place because, according to him, “there’s a reason people become DJs.”

With more prodding, Corden successfully got the ranking out of the “Firework” pop star: Last is Diplo, second is Bloom, and the best goes to John Mayer.

Perry briefly dated the DJ Diplo in 2014, while her relationship with Orlando Bloom lasted more than a year until their split in March. Meanwhile, she dated Mayer on and off for about three years.

Meanwhile, Katy complemented her newly released album with a continuous live stream of her activities to her YouTube channel for her fans to enjoy. She had moved into an apartment with 41 cameras on Thursday night, and she has been welcoming guests to her 24/7 live show — yes, viewers can even watch her sleep in real time.

So far, Perry has live-streamed meditation with teacher and guru Bob Roth, yoga with Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and even had a cooking session with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey. Sia also dropped by with her hair in a bun and, as usual, in disguise with a fake nose and glasses get up. The artist later admitted having a hard time drinking from her glass of strawberry-flavored sparkling water because of her disguise and requested for a straw.

Katy also had over Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh of The Therapist, a new TV series on Viceland. During her session with him, she admitted to alcohol abuse, thoughts of suicide, and feeling very ashamed for having thoughts of feeling low and depressed. She also revealed that the reason she cut off all her hair was because she didn’t want to “look like Katy Perry anymore.”

According to the New Yorker, the grand finale will take place on Monday afternoon, with a concert for a batch of pre-selected fans. She is currently staying in Los Angeles, in a loft similar to those used to film MTV’s The Real World. The live stream is Perry’s joint project with cosmetics company CoverGirl for an advocacy campaign called “Public Display of Application” (#projectPDA), which challenges “the stigma of applying makeup in public.”
