So You Think You Can Dance Season 14 returns tonight, and you can watch the premiere live streaming online and through various FOX apps. This season features several changes, including Vanessa Hudgens as a member of the judges’ panel. The show airs from 8-9 p.m. ET on Monday nights.
Created by Nigel Lythgoe and Simon Fuller, So You Think You Can Dance has won 14 Emmys and is one of the most popular reality television shows. The full judges’ panel includes Vanessa Hudgens, Nigel Lythgoe, and Mary Murphy. Cat Deely returns as host. So You Think You Can Dance promises to be one of the hottest shows this summer.
Nigel Lythgoe released a statement regarding Mary Murphy’s return as a judge.
“I am thrilled that Mary will return to So You Think You Can Dance, and I’m sure the fans will be, as well. She brings an energy and enthusiasm that’s contagious and I can’t wait for her to join me on the judging panel. I’ve got a pair of earplugs ready, and another for our third resident judge, as well.”
Speaking about Vanessa Hudgens as a new judge, Nigel Lythgoe released the following statement.
“I am so excited for Vanessa to join Mary and me on the judging panel for the 14th season of So You Think You Can Dance. There was instant chemistry in the audition rounds, and I know the SYTYCD fans will love her as much as we do. Vanessa is an accomplished artist and brings her own brand of enthusiasm and energy to our panel.”
So You Think You Can Dance airs on FOX, and you can watch the show when it streams live online via the official FOX website. Although the channel is available on broadcast TV, you will need a cable or satellite account in order to log in and watch the show. You can access Fox Live in the link. Other ways to watch include Roku, Sling TV, DirecTV Now, FubuTV, and Playstation VUE.
Contestants vary in age between 18 and 30 and must show prowess in a number of dancing styles in order to make it to the finale. Dance styles showcased on So You Think You Can Dance include hip-hop, ballroom dance, contemporary and modern, break dance, and more. Each week, contestants audition for the show before competing, and the top 20, followed by the top 10, are revealed. Once the So You Think You Can Dance top 10 dancers are revealed, the judges will pair them with All-Stars. Americans will cast their votes for their favorite dancer, and soon America’s Favorite Dancer will be revealed.
Nigel Lythgoe released a statement regarding the decision to use All-Star dancers with the top 10 contestants in Season 14.
“This season is about giving our loyal fan base what they’ve been asking for. We’ve decided to go back to basics by bringing the best of our past formats together for an exciting new summer featuring accomplished adult competitors partnered with fan-favorite All-Star dancers. And, of course, as in past seasons, there will be new surprises which are sure to wow our viewers.”
So You Think You Can Dance is most likely going to be one of the biggest hits this summer, but it is facing stiff competition with NBC’s World of Dance. Dance competition shows such as SYTYCD and Dancing with the Stars have done very well over the years, but there has been little in way of competition to challenge SYTYCD. Fortunately, World of Dance airs on Tuesdays, while So You Think You Can Dance airs on Mondays. Have you watched World of Dance? Are you going to watch both shows this summer? What do you think about Vanessa Hudgens joining the judges’ panel?
