Nick Gordon Released On Bail For Alleged Domestic Violence And Kidnapping Charges

Nick Gordon, the former boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was found “legally responsible” for her death in 2015, was released on $15,500 bond after he was arrested over the weekend on charges of domestic battery and the false imprisonment of his current girlfriend.

Nick’s current girlfriend was so battered that she had to be hospitalized.

Nick Gordon, the ex-boyfriend of Bobbi Kristina Brown who was found “legally responsible” for her death, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and false imprisonment following an incident Saturday in Sanford, Florida.

Gordon, 28, was taken into police custody in Sanford, Florida, on Saturday morning, the Sanford Police public information officer confirmed to Us Weekly.

“At 8:04 a.m. this morning, a female came to the Sanford Police Department to say that she had been battered and that Nick Gordon would not allow her to leave the residence… Officers did make contact with him and he was over at the pool area of the residence. There was no issues or any problems when taking him into custody.”

A complaint was filed by his live-in girlfriend of two months, Laura Leal. Following the filing of the complaint, Gordon was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday morning, one day after his arrest on charges of domestic violence battery and false imprisonment, Gordon appeared in court in Sanford, Florida, according to the Daily Mail.

A judge set bond at $15,000 for the kidnapping charge and an additional $500 for the battery charge. Gordon was released on the conditions that he wears an ankle monitor.

According to TMZ, Gordon’s girlfriend, Laura Leal, told police he was enraged because he thought she was trying to “hook up” with one of his friends at a sports bar Friday night. Laura said they got home from the bar and argued into the early morning.

When Laura made an attempt to flee, Gordon started “punching and hitting her and refused to let her leave.” She says he also snatched a laptop she was trying to use to communicate with her sister.

According to the police report, Laura was only able to leave once she woke up Nick Gordon’s mother, who also lives in the home. Gordon’s mother drove to Laura Leal’s home where her sister took her to the hospital.

According to Nick’s side of the story, he never hit Laura and has even claimed that she attacked him. Not only this, he wanted to press charges against her.

According to the arrest report, Gordon struck Leal “by hitting and punching her in the face and the back of the head with a closed fist” sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Leal told police that she and Gordon went out to eat on Friday night at Duffy’s Sports Bar in nearby Lake Mary, Florida, to watch Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

After the watching the game, the couple returned to their home in Sanford. Once the couple made it home, it was sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m when a fiery argument erupted. The police report stated, “the argument became physical and lasted through the night.”

Leal revealed to authorities that she believed Gordon was reeling after returning from the bar because he suspected she was trying to “hook up” with one of his friends at Duffy’s.

Laura told police that Gordon had no reason to be jealous and that her feelings for him were genuine, though she did acknowledge that the relationship was “toxic.” Leal said that Gordon insisted she “tell him the truth” about her desire to be with another man.

The police report stated that Leal told Gordon that she “would never do that” to him, but he did not believe her. In addition to this, Gordon insisted that she admit to wanting to cheat on him and that he “would not get mad.” According to Leal, Gordon said that he “just needed to know the truth.”

Laura told police that at one point during the all-night fighting, Gordon gave her the option of leaving. However, when she agreed, Gordon turned violent she alleged.

According to the police report, “Gordon became upset and [began to] violently punch her and hit her and refused to let her leave.”

Nick also took away the laptop Leal was using to communicate with her sister through Facebook, according to police.

A few weeks prior to the incident, Gordon smashed her cell phone, leaving Leal with no way of communicating with the outside world, according to the Daily Mail. Gordon also hid his own cell phone so she would have no way of seeking outside help.

The arrest report continued, “Leal stated that Gordon would not allow her to leave the apartment and continued to punch and hit her.”

Just after dawn, Leal says she ran into the bedroom of Nick Gordon’s mother’s and woke her up. When Michelle Gordon saw the injuries alleged to be caused by her son, she helped Leal “in getting her out of the house” and drove her to her sister’s home.

Carla Leal then drove her sister to the Sanford Police Department. However, when officers saw the injuries Laura had sustained, they asked Carla to immediately drive her sister to the emergency room. After the officers took statements from Leal and her sister, they drove to Gordon’s home and arrested him.

Nick’s mother was not at the house when the officers were there, according to the report.

Gordon faces a domestic violence battery charge as well as a charge of kidnapping and the false imprisonment of an adult.

Several photos of Laura that were obtained by TMZ show a number of black and blue marks on her left upper arm and bicep region. There are also several marks on her forearm.

Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston and her husband, rapper Bobby Brown, was just 22-years-old when she died two years ago.

Bobbi Kristina’s shocking death came six months after she fell into a coma following Gordon discovering her body submerged in a bathtub at the home they shared. Bobbi Kristina never woke from her coma.

In 2016, Nick Gordon was ordered to pay Bobbi Kristina’s family $36 million after he was found legally responsible for the death in a civil case. Brown’s estate, which brought the lawsuit, accused Gordon of causing her death by giving her a “toxic mixture” and also stealing thousands of dollars from her bank account while she was comatose.

Gordon has adamantly denied the allegations and said he tried to save Brown’s life.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled against Gordon by default in the lawsuit after neither Gordon nor his lawyer attended a hearing in the case in September of 2016.

“The Defendant will not escape justice nor ever profit from his misdeeds. We hope that in some small way this will allow Krissy’s family to continue their quest for peace.”

Bobbi Kristina was the only child of Brown and Whitney Houston. The aspiring singer was discovered face down in the bathtub of her North Atlanta home in January of 2015.

An autopsy found that the combination of drug intoxication and the immersion of her face in the water contributed to her death.

The judge said he doubts Bobbi’s estate will be able to collect the full judgment, and added, “Collection is not the issue; justice is.” Ware provided a breakdown of the award, showing the judge assessed nearly $14 million for pain and suffering, about $4.5 million in punitive damages, and $1.575 million for money allegedly taken from her bank account and stolen jewelry.

Bobbi Kristina died three years after her mother, Whitney Houston, drowned in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel. Authorities said cocaine abuse and heart disease contributed to Houston’s death on February 11 of 2012.
