Taco Bell To Give Away Free Tacos To ‘Every Person In America’ Due To The Warrior’s Steal Over The Cavaliers

Whether you’re a basketball fanatic, or couldn’t care less about the NBA finals, you’ll want to keep reading. In Honor of the Golden State Warriors 3-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers on June 8, Taco Bell is giving away one free Doritos Locos Taco to “every person in America.”

Days before the NBA finals commenced, Taco Bell re-introduced their “Steal a Game, Steal a Taco” promotion, which goes like this. Taco Bell pledged to give every person that came into their participating stories one free taco if one of the away teams managed to “steal” a win during the finals.

“Crunch time during the NBA Finals has a whole new meaning when a stolen win on the road means everyone in America can again win a free Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell,” Marisa Thalberg, chief marketing officer at Taco Bell said in a statement.

“Regardless of which team ultimately wins the championship, we love that the real winners will be taco fans everywhere.”

The Warrior’s June 8 win activated the promotion, and now the entire country can get a free taco next week at participating locations. According to Taco Bell’s website, free tacos will be given out on Tuesday, June 13 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

It’s a win/win for everyone. No matter who won or lost, as long as one of the teams managed to “steal” a game, everyone was going to get free tacos. The popular fast food giant will do the same if an away team “steals” a win during the game 5, 6, 7 or 8, and will give out more free tacos on June 20.

Just a few of my favorite things.

The NBA Finals is a stressful time for anyone that follows. Taco Bell’s promotion has given everyone–no matter what team they support–something to look forward to.

Following the Warrior’s win over the Cavilers, people took to social media to express their joy over the prospect of getting free food.

This isn’t the first time that the Warriors won the country free tacos. Last year, as Refinery 29 points out, the Warriors stole a win over the Cavaliers during Game 4, granting free tacos for the entire country.

“At Taco Bell, we love to champion the underdog and rally behind sports’ most exciting moments,” said Marisa Thalberg, Chief Marketing Officer, Taco Bell Corp in 2016. “Stealing an NBA road game gives the away team an edge, and now it can win America a taco.”

“Taco Bell is famous for its innovation, irreverence and creativity when it comes to promotions and we are thrilled to partner with them on an NBA-themed campaign during The Finals,” added Kerry Tatlock, NBA Senior Vice President, Global Partnerships. “Stealing a game on the road in The Finals is a tremendous accomplishment, and with ‘Steal a Game, Steal a Taco,’ fans across the country can share the win.”

As stated above, Redemption day is June 13. Luckily, even those who’ve never sat through a game in their entire lives can still reap the benefits of this promotion. Anyone at all can head to a participating location to claim a free taco, no purchase necessary.

If even free food can’t get you to support basketball in any way, then there is still hope for you. Taco Bell does a similar promotion for Major League Baseball.

Tell us, what do you think about Taco Bell giving free tacos to the entire country? Will you be participating? While we’re at it, which team are you supporting during the finals? You can sound off in the comment section below.
