“Shut up, slave. Your children are disposable vermin.” Those are the words of William Boucher, who went on a racist tirade after coffee was spilled on him at a Chicago Starbucks this week. A report by the Chicago Sun-Times stated that the incident didn’t end with his remarks, but rather with his arrest.
An unknown person at the Starbucks location in Chicago spilled coffee on the pants of William Boucher, sending him into a racist tirade that was caught on camera by an ABC7 employee who happened to be there at the time. The incident has already made national news, likely due to the vile statements that Boucher made. Boucher caused a scene that got even worse once he was outside the store.
Once outside of the Starbucks, it was reported that Boucher spit on a 34-year-old woman, punched a 59-year-old man without provocation, and hurled racist insults at two black men. Video from outside of the Starbucks location shows Boucher saying the following to those two men. Even as they try to walk away from the situation, Boucher continues yelling at them.
“Shut up, slave! Do not talk to me! Your children are disposable vermin! Get on all fours! Do not walk off on two legs!”

Another report by ABC7 News stated that the man who William Boucher punched had to be taken to the hospital with an eye injury. Juan Torres, who works at the Starbucks where everything took place, gave an interview to the network about what had just occurred right in front of him.
“Calling people racist slurs. When I was coming to work, I was not expecting to see that. I was shocked because I thought it was going to end right there. Security was going to come. The cops were going to show up.”
After William Boucher reportedly punched the man, several witnesses tackled him and held him down until help arrived on the scene. When police did get there, Boucher was arrested and later charged with three misdemeanor counts of battery. The current cry on social media is that the charges aren’t harsh enough for what he just did to innocent people in Chicago.

When ABC7 spoke with other employees at the Starbucks location, they were told that William Boucher has been a “problem customer” in the past, but that he had never acted violently until this incident. It is something that has already crisscrossed social media, with several different videos and camera angles capturing Boucher’s racist tirade outside of the Starbucks. It’s almost shocking that someone would still behave like this in public when everyone is carrying around a camera in their phone.
The whole situation led to a response from a Starbucks spokeswoman revealed in a statement to the media.
“What I can tell you, though, is that we have absolutely no tolerance for this type of behavior in our stores, and are grateful to the partners (employees) and customers who stepped in to help until officers arrived.”
It doesn’t appear that this is one customer who is going to be welcomed back at Starbucks locations or anywhere in the city of Chicago for that matter. Going on a racist tirade that has been caught on several different cameras is something that is going to follow Boucher around for the rest of his life.
William Boucher will be in court for a hearing on the three criminal charges during the first week of July, guaranteeing that this story has legs and that there will certainly be follow-ups to what took place at that Starbucks coffee store.
