Amy Schumer Jokes About Breakup With Ben Hanisch And Dating New Men Again
Amy Schumer joked about her breakup with Ben Hanisch and being single again while performing at Hilarity for Charity’s Third Annual New York Variety Show.
Comedian Amy Schumer has not spoken publicly about her split from her boyfriend of 18 months until Thursday.
Last month, the Inside Amy Schumer star’s representative confirmed to E! News that she had broken up with her furniture designer boyfriend, Ben Hanisch.
Schumer and Hanisch met on a dating app. After dating for a few months, Ben left Chicago to live with Amy in New York City.
“He was my first match. The picture was him dancing with his grandma at like a wedding. It was really cute.”
Single and ready to mingle
Amy Schumer joked about being “single in the city” while performing at Hilarity for Charity’s Third Annual New York City Variety Show, benefitting Alzheimer’s research, E! News reported.
The Trainwreck star opened up to the audience about her relationship.
“So, we were kind of like—we were a year and a half, you know. It’s not that bad, but it’s like…We went out with a couple who’s been together a long time and we were kind of trying to rush the intimacy. Like, I was trying to impress the girl and I was like, ‘Well he woke me up this morning with a fart.'”

“And he just slowly turned to me and he goes, ‘Are we doing this?’ And I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We’re not opening fire. Don’t tell me any of the disgusting s–t I’ve done.'”
Amy even teased the audience, telling them that she was dating “this new dude.”
“He’s like Stephen Hawking, sexually.”

An amicable split
When Amy and Ben first broke up, the actress’ rep said that the couple intended to remain friends but just realized that their life was headed in different directions.
Speaking to the crowd, Amy did not seem to be upset about the split even though she told Marie Claire last year that Ben was pretty much “the first guy who’s really been my boyfriend.”

Amy had also told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that Ben’s family was great. His mother, who is from Illinois, tried to do what Amy said and not talk to the press about her and her son’s new relationship, which ended with her saying she had “never heard of her.”
‘Deb, they’re going to call you. Just say ‘no comment.’ And she’s like, ‘Oh, I got it, Amy. Don’t you worry. No comment. Not a problem.'”
“Not even 10 minutes later I get a Google alert from TIME magazine that Deb was like, ‘I’ve never heard of her before in my life!’ Too far, Deb! Too far. You took it too far, Deb. She’s so sweet.”
