‘Game Of Thrones’ Makes History, Breaks A Rather Surprising Record

Fans all over the world are anxiously awaiting the season premiere of the penultimate season of the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones. And while we anxiously await what this season will bring — all we know, so far, is that the Iron Throne is up for grabs, and Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, and Daenerys Targaryen are all vying for it — we’re getting a few necessary leaks from the set which leave us thrilled to bits.

According to CNET, one of the biggest surprises of the upcoming season of Game of Thrones is that it’s broken a few records as of late. Namely, this upcoming season has broken the record for the number of people set on fire (we didn’t even know people were keeping track!). Rowley Irlham, the show’s stunt coordinator, filled the outlet in on the details.

“Turns out Guinness doesn’t actually keep that record, but if they ever want to add it, Rowley Irlam, the show’s stunt coordinator, has all the details. “One sequence has 73 fire burns and that itself is a record,” Irlam told EW. “No film or TV show has ever done that in a whole show, let alone in one sequence. We also set 20 people on fire at one time, which is also a record.”

Meanwhile, according to theT Independent, the latest leaks from the Game of Thrones set came in the form of a behind-the-scenes video, which seemed to reveal some spoilers. According to them, in addition to seeing the costume designer talk about why she likes working on the costumes of the show, a beloved figure — one Hound, Sandor Clegane — has been seeing playing in the snow, suggesting that “winter is coming” and it’s time to be a part of the Great War between the citizens of Westeros and the White Walkers.

“Another sees Jon Snow standing on a clifftop — previously we’ve only seen the Stark in Winterfell, the image confirming the King in the North will likely travel to visit his aunt, Daenerys. Other appearances include Jaime Lannister, Sam Tarly, Petyr Baelish, and Tyrion Lannister. Watch below.”

But one of the biggest reasons that people like Game of Thrones is because of all the celebrity guest stars.

According to Digital Spy, there are so many celebrity guest stars in the show that chances are, even the most eagle-eyed fans will have missed them.

One of the funniest special guest stars is Will Champion, the drummer in Coldplay. He was seen banging the drums during the so-called “Red Wedding,” also known as “The Rains of Castamere” episode. The indie band Sigur Ros also played to type, as the band at the wedding of Joffrey Baratheon to Margaery Tyrell.

Other notable special guests include Ser Ilyn Payne, played by Wilko Johnson of the 70’s rock band Dr. Feelgood, and the members of the heavy metal band Mastodon.

But one of the most notable guest stars was a former United States President.

“Bush himself didn’t actually appear in the show. But his head did. In the season one episode where King Joffrey makes wife Sansa Stark gaze upon the severed heads of his traitors (nice), eagled-eyed viewers couldn’t help but liken one of the dismembered heads to that of former President George W Bush. “George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes”, GoT creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss confirmed in the season one DVD commentary. “It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around”. However, the pair were later forced to apologise after angry Republicans branded the scene ‘offensive’.”
