Reality Winner is under arrest for allegedly leaking top-secret NSA documents to The Intercept for a bombshell report published on Monday, and now a picture of the 25-year-old leaker has emerged showing a disdain for Donald Trump and potential connections to Barack Obama.
Winner was arrested on Monday, just hours after The Intercept published a story on the NSA’s report about Russian attempts to infiltrate U.S. voting software and election officials ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Winner was employed at a government contractor located in Georgia, The Daily Beast reported.
An FBI affidavit claimed that Reality Winner printed out the classified report on May 9 and mailed it to the news outlet, which was not explicitly named in the affidavit but fit the description of The Intercept.
“The U.S. Government Agency examined the document shared by the News Outlet and determined the pages of the intelligence reporting appeared to be folded and/or creased, suggesting they had been printed and hand-carried out of a secured space,” the affidavit read (via the Washington Examiner).
According to the affidavit, Winner had already admitted to printing out the document.
“Winner further acknowledged that she was aware of the contents of the intelligence reporting and that she knew the contents of the reporting could be used to the injury of the United States and to the advantage of a foreign nation,” the affidavit stated.
“During that conversation, Winner admitted intentionally identifying and printing the classified intelligence reporting at issue despite not having a ‘need to know,’ and with knowledge that the intelligence reporting was classified.”

But even Reality Winner’s mother, Billie Winner-Davis, had little details about the arrest.
“I don’t know who she might have sent it to,” she told The Daily Beast. “[DOJ] were very vague. They said she mishandled and released documents that she shouldn’t have, but we had no idea what it pertained to or who.”
But some were pointing fingers at The Intercept, noting that they did not take proper precautions to keep the leaker’s identity a secret. The news outlet reportedly shared a copy of the report that showed crease marks, indicating that it had been printed out. That information helped investigators pinpoint Reality Winner as the alleged source, as only a handful of people with access to the report had printed it out.

Now, a picture has emerged of Reality Winner showing her disdain for Donald Trump, including retweeting a statement from Bernie Sanders calling Trump a racist and xenophobe.
Heavy.com tracked down more of Winner’s social media posts, including a YouTube comment on a video of Donald Trump saying he has heard no complaining about plans for the Dakota Access Pipeline, a controversial project that came with heavy protests.
“If you voted for this piece of s**t, explain this. He’s lying. He’s blatantly lying and the second largest supply of freshwater in the country is now at risk.”
There were other reports that Reality Winner had visited Barack Obama in the White House. Conservative journalist and Trump supporter Jack Posobiec claimed that Winner visited the Obama White House one week before leaking the documents, but the documents were leaked in May of this year and Winners visited the White House in 2016. Donald Trump was in the White House one week before the documents were leaked.

Reality Winner’s arrest comes at a time when Donald Trump has vowed to crack down on those who leaked classified information from the federal government. Trump’s White House has seen a large number of leaks compared to past administrations, with details flowing constantly about the state of the investigation of his alleged ties to Russia as well as more ordinary White House details like feuds between different factions within his administration.
