Kassie DePaiva Confirms Return To ‘Days Of Our Lives’ As Eve Following Cancer

Following what has been the most challenging time of her life, actress Kassie DePaiva is ready to jump back into the acting scene. Kassie was set to return to her role as Eve on the popular soap opera Days of Our Lives just prior to her cancer diagnosis. Her return was placed on hold. Now nearly a year later Kassie has confirmed she is coming back to Salem to rejoin her fellow cast mates.

Prior to being cast as Eve Donovan on DOOL in 2014, Kassie played Blair Cramer on One Life To Live. In 2015 DePaiva was released from her role as Eve, but was set to rejoin the show last summer when her life was unexpectedly turned upside down. US Weekly shared last August the news that Kassie had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

DePaiva shared with fans at that time details about her prognosis and her thoughts about her battle with cancer. Kassie shared that she found about her illness in July 2016 and had spent six of nine weeks in the hospital. As of her statement last August, DePaiva was anticipating spending the following three months in treatment.

Kassie had went on to say, “I will not likely need a stem cell/bone marrow transplant, and we expect a complete cure. I consider this just a bump in the road. I have amazing prayer warriors, family, and friends that have been extremely supportive and life-affirming throughout this.”

Kassie went on to add that her faith is strong. DePaiva said, “I have a strong faith that strengthens me every step of the way. This has been a private matter, but with Eve’s return coming soon I felt it was time to let my loving fans know what’s been going on. The Days and OLTL family love runs deep. Although I’m unable to be ‘camera ready’ now… my goal is to get back to stirring up trouble in Salem soon. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers. … God’s got this!”

Less than a year later, Kassie’s goal has been met. DePaiva shared on Facebook in February that she was finally cancer free. In a post she wrote, “Today is #WorldCancerDay and I’m grateful to say I am cancer free. To all of you who battle cancer… fight on! Trust the journey!”

Entertainment Weekly shared this week that along with being officially cancer free, Kassie is heading back to Salem. DePaiva’s much-awaited return to Days of Our Lives as Eve is finally happening. Fans have not seen Kassie on the show since her last filmed episodes aired in February 2016. Now Kassie is back to filming and DOOL fans can expect to see these episodes air in late October 2017.

With Kassie back to filming new episodes as Eve, she has also been reunited with head writer Ron Carlivati. Ron had previously written for One Life To Live when Kassie played Blair on the soap. It’s a huge advantage for DePaiva having a writer on set who knows her work well.

Aside from working on One Life To Live and Days of Our Lives, Kassie had her first big break in soaps when she appeared on Guiding Light as Chelsea Reardon in the late 1980’s. DePaiva says she also loves music and if she had not pursued acting with such force, she would have definitely pursued music more than she did. Kassie has recorded a few albums she can be very proud of.

Outside of her professional success, Kassie has been successful personally as well. DePaiva is married to former co-star James DePaiva and the two share a son, JQ DePaiva. Things are finally back on track for Kassie and she is diving back into doing what she does best. Don’t miss seeing Kassie make her big comeback as Eve Donovan later this year on NBC.
