Lil Wayne Announces Weezyana Fest 3 As Retirement, ‘Tha Carter V’ Hinted At

Lil Wayne fans have been on the edge of their seats over the past six months of 2017 because Weezy and Birdman have been toying with the idea of finally releasing Tha Carter V.

Now, Lil Wayne is excited about having the third occurrence of his annual festival, but it is still unclear if he will use this opportunity to finally release Tha Carter V.

Lil Wayne has been touring non-stop over the past few years, and he has also headlined at a large number of festivals. However, Lil Wayne also has his own festival that is having its third annual happening in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Called the Lil Weezyana Fest, according to Hip Hop DX, Lil Wayne says that the 2017 event is still scheduled as planned.

Current details on the event include the fact that it will be held on August 25 and there will be later announcements about special guests. The 2016 Lil Weezyana Fest included a special feature of his 2 Chainz project Collegrove, and the 2015 Weezyana Fest was a Hot Boys reunion.

In addition to the chance that Lil Wayne could use the third Weezyana Fest to release Tha Carter V, it is also a possibility that Lil Wayne could drop the T-Wayne project, music from Funeral, singles from Velvet, or release a new project such as Dedication 6.

Naturally, Lil Wayne probably has a lot of pressure to make the 3rd Annual Lil Weezyana Fest successful after the Fyre Fest with Ja Rule, and this could set the bar high for all festivals in 2017. Nevertheless, when Lil Wayne is at his worst, he can still be at his best.

According to Complex, Lil Wayne’s 2009 “rock-rap” Rebirth album was his “worst project,” but it might have been his “most impactful project if you look at the generation currently following in his footsteps.”

The opinion piece concluded that Lil Wayne never “got the rebirth he wanted,” but instead he got a “reincarnation,” and that reincarnation is “currently playing out on the radio right in front of us” eight years later in 2017.

Regardless of spending a lot of time touring and making new music, Lil Wayne’s true focus is his family. According to BET, Lil Wayne’s family returns the favor and goes to bat for him.

For example, Reginae Carter stood up for her father, Lil Wayne, in a new episode of Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta, about the Black Lives Matter movement.

It was clear from her reaction that Reginae Carter was tired of having to defend her dad. When her friends confronted her on camera about what Lil Wayne said about Black Lives Matter, Reginae Carter asked her friend why they were bringing it up at this time.

For example, the friends had told Reginae Carter they were fans of Lil Wayne, and then seemed to bring up controversial news about Lil Wayne just because cameras were present.

About being a family man, Lil Wayne listed spending time with his family as one of the main priorities he has. This especially became prominent, as previously reported by the Inquisitr, when Lil Wayne was threatening to retire from touring and making music in early September 2016.

However, this is not the first time Lil Wayne has threatened to quit show business, and there is also a chance Lil Wayne will use Weezyana Fest 3 to announce he is retiring.

Lil Wayne has promised since his 2008 interview with Katie Couric that he would retire when he turned 35 on September 27, 2017.

In 2013, Lil Wayne said if he did retire in September 2017, his kids would be a top priority. Alternatively, politics and celebrity gossip are not the most important topics to Lil Wayne.

Although they are a celebrity family, Lil Wayne’s ex-wife and his daughter Reginae Carter went through a very tragic time when both of Toya Wright’s brothers, Rudy and Joshua Johnson, were murdered in 2016.

Lil Wayne may also need some retirement time to figure out how to negotiate a deal with Birdman. Their $51 million lawsuit is still pending, and if Lil Wayne wins the case, he would have more than enough money to retire.

Lil Wayne also owns other businesses that could use some attention. For example, in addition to being a part owner in Tidal, Lil Wayne also has a clothing design company called Trukfit.
