This Ain’t Your Cuddly Little Gizmo – Trailer And Poster Revealed For New Horror Movie ‘Gremlin’

When it comes to the horror movie genre, true fans are always looking for something new terrifying in their lives, but it happens so rarely. That may end up changing as a brand new movie called Gremlin has had both a poster and trailer released for it and well, this certainly is not the cute and cuddly Gizmo that you knew in the ’80s.

JoBlo thought that the packet they received regarding Gremlin originally got them very excited due to thinking it had something to do with Joe Dante’s classic Gremlins from 1984. After getting over the disappointment of that it had nothing to do with Gizmo or Stripe, their interest picked up a little bit.

As fans await a possible Gremlins 3 sometime in the future, this new film is one that is being sold as “Godzilla meets The Ring.” Anyone who has seen those two films knows that is one of the strangest mash-ups that anyone could possibly imagine.

Still, it is quite the intriguing one and it merits checking out the brand new poster and trailer for Gremlin which is going to be released on Video On Demand on July 11.

Looking at the poster, it seems as if there is a spider-looking creature inside something looking like Pandora’s Box. In order to avoid having to deal with the evil inside of the box, you need to give the box to someone you love before the timer runs out.

“Adam receives a mysterious box from a relative containing a creature that will kill everyone he cares about. The only way to be rid of the curse is to give the box to someone he loves. As the ominous timer on the box counts down to its end, he can only imagine the horrors that await. Does he give the box away to save his family, or unleash a monster upon humanity? He can’t destroy it. He can’t escape it. He can only give it to someone he loves…”

“GREMLIN is directed by Ryan Bellgardt and stars Adam Hampton, Kristy K. Boone, Catcher Stair, Katie Burgess, Mike Waugh, and Caleb Milby.”

The premise does sound an awful lot like that of The Ring, but there is an interesting catch. In that movie, all you had to do was give a copy of the deadly tape to another person which would pass on the curse and keep you alive. Sure, there is the concept of morals and guilt, but it could be done.

In Gremlin, you must pass the killer box to someone you love. So, not only are you dealing with the guilt of passing almost certain death on someone, but you’re doing it to a person you have a deep connection to.

As for those hoping this would have had something to do with Gizmo and making sure he doesn’t eat after midnight…sorry.

Still, it was just back in December that Zach Galligan, who played Billy Peltzer, said Gremlins 3 is “definitely” in the works, according to the Daily Mail. There hasn’t been a lot of talk or discussion publicly on the film in years, but Galligan states that Chris Columbus and Warner Bros. are working on it.

For the time being, Gremlin really isn’t looking like something bad to pass the time at all. The poster is exciting enough as it is, but the trailer below really seems as if the Cloverfield monster was shrunken down and trapped inside the puzzle box from Hellraiser.

It really is quite difficult for the horror fans of the world to get excited over anything and see something they haven’t seen before. Even in this case, the movie is being looked at as a combination of two iconic movies, but an interesting one to say the least. Sure, there isn’t a cute Gizmo to stand in as the protagonist, but as the poster and trailer for Gremlin show, there is a lot of promise and fear to come.
