Phaedra Parks Plans Trip To Italy, Talks Emotional Divorce From Apollo Nida

Phaedra Parks probably won’t be back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta anymore, but she has other things on her plate to worry about. The mother of two is trying to focus her attention on different matters that are affecting her in the present time — like her ongoing divorce proceedings — and has even managed to work in some downtime with her two sons.

Parks opened up to Us Weekly recently, talking about her life and what she has been up to over the past few weeks since Bravo aired the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion finale.

Her divorce from her ex-husband, Apollo Nida, who is currently serving an 8-year sentence after being convicted of for bank fraud and identity theft, was finalized almost one year ago. However, in March 2017, a judge reversed the decision and the divorce was overturned, putting Parks in an uncomfortable spot.

“[The divorce] was finalized last year in July so of course that obviously made me assume that I had regained my independence and a new start. So to be placed back into a position where I have to do it all over again … it’s disheartening but it’s a process and I can’t obviously change it,” Parks told Us Weekly.

At the time, there were reports that Parks intentionally tried to keep Nida “out of the loop” when it came to the divorce proceedings. Reports indicated that she spelled his name wrong (perhaps intentionally) and that he was not told about the final court hearing. Naturally, Parks has denied these things and maintains that she wouldn’t do such a thing, but a judge evidently felt as though something was going on. Now, Parks is back at square one.

“Of course we’ve made some motions that will hopefully speed it up, but it’s basically at the beginning part of the divorce. Of course it’s very frustrating, it’s very expensive, it’s very emotionally draining and quite time consuming. It’s a very difficult process and it’s unfortunate that it was overturned but it is what it is and so I’ll go through the process again and we’ll see what happens this time. Hopefully it won’t take as long as it did the first time,” she said.

Meanwhile, Parks is trying to stay focused on her boys — Ayden, 7, and Dylan, 4 — and she has managed to work in some vacation time with them this summer.

“I’m actually going to take the boys with me to camp in Michigan because I want them to just see how other people live, and I want them to be able to appreciate overnight camp as well. We’ll camp out for a week with the Flint campers. [We’re also going to Italy] for about a week […] we’ll go to Utah this summer to visit some national parks there, and we’re going to go see the Grand Canyon and we’ll go to Florida as well,” she told Us Weekly.

Parks was reportedly fired from The Real Housewives of Atlanta after starting a nasty rumor about her castmates and denying her involvement. Things were near-explosive on the show’s reunion special, many cast members crying and in disbelief. Although Parks has said that she has “no regrets,” she has yet to directly address the rumors that she has been fired by Bravo. She merely told Us Weekly that she wouldn’t be returning to the show “as of now.”
