Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton, Inspired By Goldie Hawn, May Never Get Married: Why Ruin ‘A Good Thing’?

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have caused fans to speculate for months about exactly when he would propose. But all those viewers of The Voice who enjoyed Gwen’s and Blake’s flirtations, even going so far as to hope that he might propose on air and that their wedding could turn into a reality TV show, have a disappointment waiting for them, according to a new report. Just like Goldie Hawn and her forever boyfriend Kurt Russell, who have kept their love lasting without marriage, Stefani and Shelton apparently are considering the possibility of never, ever getting married.

However, just because Gwen and Blake may not desire to have wedding bells ringing anytime soon doesn’t mean that the flame of their love has flickered or been blown out completely. Shelton and Stefani are “madly in love, but they haven’t decided to walk down the aisle — yet,” reported Hollywood Life.

A source told Hollywood Life that Shelton and Stefani are enjoying their romance and don’t feel pressured by all the speculation about a wedding.

“Blake and Gwen are having a wonderful time being together and they know everyone is waiting for them to get engaged and get married.”

And while the couple’s fans are getting impatient to see Blake proposing, Gwen waving around a huge engagement ring, and the lovebirds walking down the aisle to tie the knot, the duo has been talking about “being a modern-day Goldie and Kurt,” added the insider.

The 40-year-old country crooner and 47-year-old pop singer have enjoyed their blossoming romance for more than a year and a half, showing that their love is staying strong through holidays, family trips, and even working together. The source revealed that Stefani and Shelton are aware of all the excitement and speculation about when he will propose, but claimed that the couple still feels as if they’re in the “honeymoon phase” of their “love bug” romance.

While Blake and Gwen reportedly have talked about the speculation and rumors surrounding an engagement and wedding, the insider revealed that the duo has also chatted about their desire not to derail their love with the “extra title” of Mr. and Mrs. Shelton.

“And as much as they have talked about [an engagement and marriage], they have also talked about not ruining a good thing with an extra title.”

As for the possibility of never, ever getting married, the source claimed that Stefani and her country crooner sweetheart feel that, just like the example set by Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, it’s a possibility. Gwen and Blake “often bring up” the idea of being “the modern-day Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell and be together forever but never get married,” according to the insider.

And don’t expect fan pressure to make any difference because the source emphasized that the lovebirds aren’t letting outside influences affect their romance. Describing Stefani and Shelton as “equally happy” with getting married or following Goldie’s and Kurt’s lead, the insider pointed out that the two are in sync.

“They are taking it all in stride and are refusing to be pressured into doing something that they don’t want to do,” summed up the source.

“Blake and Gwen are on the same wavelength with each other and that is why their relationship is working so well.”

When the couple celebrated the finale of The Voice on May 22, they showed their emotions. Parading their PDA, Stefani and Shelton made it clear that they’re just as much in love as ever. And while the two have gushed over each other in public as well, fans continue to hope for a proposal and wedding.

Some fans even wrote Blake via social media and urged him to pop the question to Gwen.

“Get married. You have waited long enough and I guarantee you won’t find another one like her,” wrote one fan.

“Marry her at the top of the Empire State Building,” urged another.

As for what Goldie Hawn thinks about whether Stefani and Shelton should follow her lead, no one knows. But Goldie did tell People in May that her 34-year romance with Kurt Russell stays strong because of what she views as the basics of a long-lasting relationship.

“Love, gratitude, compassion, because sometimes every man or every woman will drive their partner crazy. Family. Fun. Laughs. Sex.”

And for those who doubt that a romantic relationship can last 34 years without marriage, Goldie shared what Kurt told her when the lovebirds recently celebrated side-by-side stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“It turned out to be a lovefest,” said Hawn. “The last thing he said was, ‘I’ll always cherish you.’ I didn’t expect him to say those things. I had no idea he was going to be so beautiful.”
