‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 3 Premiere Opens With Several Main Characters Captured By A New Group

Season 3 of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead is nearly here. Yesterday, we found out the new season would open much more dramatically than in previous episodes. Now we know why: Travis, Madison, and Alicia have been captured.

SPOILER ALERT: This article discusses Season 3 of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

The Season 2 finale of Fear the Walking Dead saw Nick Clark (Frank Dillane) and Luciana (Danay Garcia) captured by a military group on the Mexican border. Meanwhile, Travis (Cliff Curtis), Madison (Kim Dickens), and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) decided to branch out and leave the hotel they had been staying in. Part of the reason Madison wanted to go was she knew her son, Nick, was close by. Victor Strand (Colman Domingo), meanwhile, decided to stay behind at the hotel rather than follow the rest of the group.

However, a new trailer for Fear the Walking Dead reveals that the Season 3 premiere will start with Travis, Madison, and Alicia captured by a new militia group. Forbes confirms that this new group is led by the Otto family, who are a group of survivalists. Jeremiah Otto, played by Dayton Callie, will head this new family.

“In the opening of Season 3, we find Madison, Travis, and Alicia in custody,” Kim Dickens explains.

According to a Forbes review of the first few episodes of Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead, Madison’s group “come back to the United States only to encounter the militia that fired on Nick and his people at the end of Season 2.” This is a pretty good indicator that, even though they are down on their luck on account of being captured, at least Madison will likely be reunited with her son at this point.

Meanwhile, one of the show’s executive producers, Gale Anne Hurd, expands on the tension that will be encountered in Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead.

“We’ll begin to expand our universe. This is a world in which anyone that you encounter is likely to be a foe.”

For those viewers who have wanted to see Madison step up and take charge, Season 3 might see your wish become a reality with Gale Anne Hurd questioning whether Madison really could become the leader everyone else feels she can be.

However, in order for Madison to step up and take the leadership role, the group must first get their bearings within the group that has captured them.

Will they all make it out alive? Only by tuning into Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead will reveal the answer.

The official synopsis for Season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead is below.

“As Fear the Walking Dead returns for season three, our families will be brought together in the vibrant and violent region formerly known as the U.S.-Mexico border. International lines done away with following the world’s end, our characters must attempt to rebuild not only society, but family as well. Madison has reconnected with Travis, her apocalyptic partner, but Alicia has been fractured by her murder of Andres. Madison’s son is only a few miles from his mother, but Nick’s first action as a leader saw him and Luciana ambushed by an American militia group – the couple escaped death, Luciana was shot, and Nick no longer feels immortal. Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia’s captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father.”
