Ryan Edwards’ Mom, Jen, Speaks Out About Ryan’s Alleged Drug Use

Rumors have been circulating that Ryan Edwards, father of Bentley, 8, has a drug problem that needs to be addressed, and his family has remained silent on the issue until now. This week, the issue became a huge topic of discussion as Maci Bookout discussed her fears for her ex on Teen Mom OG as the she headed to Puerto Rico with the rest of the cast (minus Farrah), to catch up with one another and have some fun.

Maci told the other two girls on the show that she really wanted her ex to go to rehab, and that she felt he was a person who was worth loving.

Ryan Edwards’ fiancee, Mackenzie Standifer, has recently made a few statements about the alleged drug abuse. She spoke to The Ashley about everything going on with her fiance.

“Let them wonder, let them assume, and then let them eat cake. I don’t feel like I need to defend myself to viewers. When they walk in my shoes or pay my bills, then maybe. But I have absolutely no respect for individuals who choose to put everyone else down,” she said.

Mackenzie also clapped back at her haters and those prodding into her personal life on Twitter.

“Here’s a thought… maybe instead of making assumptions and tearing people down, you could spend that time praying for us instead,” she wrote.

It is unclear whether or not Mackenzie and Ryan are angry at Maci for airing his troubles on national television.

However, many viewers assumed Ryan was on drugs just from watching him, and even Amber Portwood, former drug addict, says she knew just from watching his segments on Teen Mom OG.

“Ryan’s f**ked up,” she told Maci on the most recent episode of Teen Mom OG. “I watch it, I see it, I know it. Where he’s at right now, when I see him, I know where he’s at and I’m like, ‘Wow, he needs some guidance.'”

According to Mackenzie Standifer’s dad, the family has been planning an intervention for Ryan Edwards, though it is unclear whether or not this is true.

Jen Edwards, who is Bentley’s doting grandmother on Teen Mom OG (in lieu of Maci’s parents who do not like to be filmed, but sometimes can be seen in the background of clips), made a statement to The Dirty, which neither confirmed nor denied that her son has a drug problem.

“All I can say at this time is yes, Larry and I have a story and it will be told. But not at this time,” she said.

It is unclear how their relationship with Maci is since the episode in which Maci told Mackenzie that she felt Jen and Larry (Bentley’s grandfather) overstepped their boundaries in Bentley’s life. Mackenzie then told Jen and Larry, who were not too pleased to hear about their grandson’s mother’s take on the situation.

Some speculate that Ryan Edwards, who got into a car accident in 2014 in which he suffered from head wounds, is not actually on drugs, but has had a traumatic brain injury. Many viewers feel that his odd behavior and wide eyes are consistent with someone who has suffered what is known as traumatic brain injury (TBI), and therefore Ryan may not be taking drugs at all.

However, it wouldn’t stand to reason that Maci Bookout is as worried as she is about Ryan Edwards if he simply did have a traumatic brain injury and was not abusing substances in some way.

As Jen still has an untold story, it will be interesting to see what unfolds at the Teen Mom OG reunion special, with filming to take place this Saturday.
