Cher Sizzles At 71, Credits Ageless Beauty To Special Weight Loss Diet, Chocolate, And Surfing [Photos]

Cher is still sizzling at 71, and now the music legend is serving up the secrets of her stunning body. From a special diet that includes chocolate to a fitness plan that stars surfing, Cher recently revealed just how she maintains her fabulous figure and ageless beauty, including which food she eliminated for weight loss success.

Turning to Twitter, Cher just shared her impressively organized pantry for the first time. In the process, the stunning singer revealed some of the staples from her diet, pointed out the Daily Mail.

A resident of Malibu, the “Believe” singer also teased her 3.3 million followers by inviting them to hunt for her cat Zen hiding inside her walk-in pantry filled with food and cookware. In addition to Zen the cat (the singer has another cat named Malo), the pantry picture revealed that Cher’s a lover of pasta, with a packet of De Cecco pasta visible in the corner. A pasta maker also resided in the pantry.

Swiss Miss hot chocolate packets were predominantly displayed, showing that Cher allows herself to indulge in this chocolate treat. Also playing a key role in her diet: Kellogg’s All-Bran cereal. The singer had three boxes stowed away in her pantry.

When it comes to protein power, Cher told her Twitter followers that she doesn’t eat red meat. Instead, she sticks to a vegetarian diet, according to Good Housekeeping.

The singer avoids red meat, choosing veggie alternatives of foods such as ham and steak. Cher revealed that she focuses on following a healthy diet.

“I don’t like meat and so most of things that I like are healthy for you.”

While Cher isn’t lacking for reasons to celebrate (she’s still regarded as a superstar at 71), she also revealed that she doesn’t turn to champagne or other alcoholic beverages at parties, rarely opting for the bubbly. She also does not use drugs, sticking to her healthy lifestyle.

“Being healthy has always been part of my life. It just works for me,” summed up the singer. “There are things I don’t like that are unhealthy, like drugs and drinking, so I never got into them to begin with.”

Although the singer did smoke cigarettes “for a while,” she clarified that she felt drugs weren’t the right choice for her body, avoiding them and usually steering clear of alcohol as well.

“I’d have done drugs had I liked them, but they didn’t agree with me. I’ll only drink three [or] four times a year.”

However, Cher has had challenges when it comes to those tempting treats from craft services on film sets. She confessed that she has had binges while filming.

“I have had some bad binges while making movies,” admitted the actress. “At the end of The Witches of Eastwick, Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon and I really went crazy. We’d go from one of our trailers to the other stuffing ourselves with Pepperidge Farm Cheddar Cheese Goldfish, M&Ms, Cokes and Hershey’s Kisses.”

Cher’s diet improved, however, when she and Michelle discovered the art of microwaving sweet potatoes in just a few minutes. The actress feels that the discovery “changed our entire lives.” From that point, the two survived on “sweet potatoes, baked potatoes and Caesar salads.”

However, as Cher’s Twitter photo of her pantry just showed, she’s expanded her diet from those three basics.

As for dairy foods, Cher has eliminated them along with other high-fat foods from her diet. She credits cutting out high-fat foods to helping her achieve her weight loss goals.

“I try to avoid foods with a high fat content because they make me sluggish and keep my weight up,” she explained. “Dairy products are not good for us.”

Although the singer occasionally has milk, she also shared that she “weaned” herself from using whole milk to non-fat milk. And she’s adamant about avoiding cheese.

“I think cheese is one of the worst things for the body. It doesn’t digest well, and most cheeses are too high in fat and cholesterol.”

In addition to her diet, Cher is an advocate of exercising to turn back the clock. At age 60, she learned to surf and has become a surfing expert. But the singer doesn’t just limit her exercise routine to surfing. Cher also plays Wii Tennis, walks, and hits the gym.

“You have to work twice as hard. You have to be in the gym all the time,” admitted the singer.

When she was growing up, Cher viewed herself as a “tomboy,” into sports. Now she’s grateful for that background because it made her “like that kind of stuff, thank God.”

Does Cher ever give into the temptation of asking her fitness trainer to ease up because of her age?

“I try to play the age card with my trainer but she just doesn’t go for it,” she joked.
