Finland Becomes First Country To Declare Broadband Access A Legal Right

Helsinki, Finland (AHN) – Finland declared broadband access a legal right Wednesday.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that every person in Finland would have the right to a one-megabit broadband connection, according to TechCrunch.com.
Starting July 2010, Finland’s 5.5 million residents will have the right to broadband access. The Ministry will extend the legal right to 100Mb broadband connection for each person by 2015.
According to YLE news in Finland, some variations will be allowed, if connections can be established through a mobile phone network.
