San Diego, CA (AHN) – A San Diego meat company has recalled 925 pounds of ground beef and ground beef patties tainted with E. Coli.

There were no report of illnesses arising from the consumption of the contaminated meat from San Diego Meat Co. and the recall aims to protect the public, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, which conducted the test Sunday,

The recall covers 15-pound cases of ground-beef patties and 10-pound bags of bulk ground beef with establishment number “EST. 4116″ inside the USDA mark of inspection. The meat were produced between Oct. 7 and Monday.

The company on Tuesday retrieved contaminated beef from 20 caterers and restaurateurs and replaced them with meat from separate lots.

The recall was the first for the 60-year-old company’s new owners, Bob Watkins and Mark Gassert, who bought it in 2002.
