With the premiere date for Season 7 of Game of Thrones just around the corner, fans are clamoring for details about the upcoming series, and there are plenty of spoilers making their rounds on the internet about the show. But what do we really know about the newest season of Game of Thrones?
One of the newest points of debate and spoilers about Season 7 of Game of Thrones comes from Entertainment Weekly, on which the cover of this magazine features Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, and Sansa’s brother Bran. However, the fourth character pictured, Arya Stark, was the one that got the most attention due to the weapon that she was pictured with.
The Express reports that posters on Reddit were all astonished to discover that Arya was busy clutching the weapon which was used when an unknown person attempted to murder her brother, Bran, in Series 1 of Game of Thrones. After this murder attempt, Arya Stark’s mother Catelyn carried the dagger off to King’s Landing. Here, Littlefinger confessed that the dagger was his. However, he explained that after he came into ownership of the dagger, he had lost it in a bet he had made with Tyrion Lannister.
The last time that this dagger was spotted was when it was sitting on the desk of Ned Stark after Catelyn had delivered it to King’s Landing. With the premiere date of Season 7 of Game of Thrones so close now, fans are all puzzling over how Arya Stark took possession of this dagger and wondering what she will be using it for this season.
Will Arya team up with Jon Snow to help in the battle against the White Walkers? Alternatively, did someone on the photo shoot for Entertainment Weekly simply think that the dagger would look good in a photograph?
Another spoiler that has Game of Thrones fans talking is whether Season 7 will see Jaime Lannister’s death. The last time that Lannister was spotted was when the Queen of Westeros was crowned, and this Queen was his sister, Cersei. However, after the Season 7 premiere date of Game of Thrones, will Jaime even survive and be able to see his sister rule as Queen?
When Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau recently spoke at the Argentina Comic Con, he discussed all the different ways that his character could be killed off, as the Express report.
“I think he’ll probably die burned by a dragon.”
It is unclear whether this is a true hint as to Jaime’s fate, although Coster-Waldau also said that Jaime Lannister could meet his end by “something with fire,” rather than a dragon specifically. However, Nikolaj did say that he would prefer it if his character wasn’t killed and actually survived through the series.
“If I have to choose, I would love to survive.”
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau admits that whenever he is given a script, the very first thing he will do is rush towards the end of it to see if Jaime Lannister is even still alive.
“It’s the first thing I do. I get sent them in a PDF and I put, ‘Look for Jaime’. I go to the end of the script to see if it’s there.”
However, as Season 7 of Game of Thrones will feature Daenerys Targaryen riding a dragon, as the new trailer shows, does this mean that Lannister might go to war with Daenerys and thus actually end up being killed by a dragon?
To see what happens to all of your favorite characters, make sure you tune into Season 7 of Game of Thrones, which will have a premiere date of July 16, 2017, on HBO.
