‘America’s Got Talent’ Returns: What Happened To Nick Cannon?

It is time for a new season of America’s Got Talent to start airing tonight on NBC. As the new season starts tonight, people are going to notice that Nick Cannon is missing as the host and has been replaced by Tyra Banks. Fans love Nick and can’t help but wonder what went down. Back in February, Nick moved on from the show by quitting, but a lot of fans don’t realize that he is gone. When the show airs tonight, people are going to be in shock. The fans are already on social networks today talking about how the show won’t be the same without Nick. USA Today shared about what happened with Nick Cannon and why he is gone.

Nick went to his Facebook page to share a bit of what was going on when it all happened. He was very upset about leaving and shared what went down. This wasn’t his decision, but Nick Cannon is now gone from America’s Got Talent.

“I was to be punished for a joke… My soul won’t allow me to be in business with corporations that attempt to frown on freedom of speech, censor artists, and question cultural choices. Not to get too detailed but this isn’t the first time executives have attempted to ‘put me in my place’ for so-called unruly actions. I will not stand for it. My moral principles will easily walk away from the millions of dollars they hang over my head.”

This all went down about a month before America’s Got Talent was supposed to start filming. This all had to do with a joke that Nick Cannon made while doing a standup show that aired on Showtime. Nick actually talked about America’s Got Talent, plus he is known for the show, so they were not happy about it. Here is what Nick said during his standup act on Showtime.

“I honestly believe, once I started doing America’s Got Talent, they took my real N— card. They did! Because then like these type of people started showing up to my shows. I can’t do the real N— stuff no more, because then they’ll put me on TMZ.”

Nick Cannon pointed at white people as he said the type of people that were showing up at his comedy shows now. Nick even made it sound like he thought NBC would be fine with everything he said while talking to Howard Stern, but that wasn’t the case at all. NBC actually thought he breached his contract by talking bad about their show. There were also a few other small comments about NBC during his show. Nick did end up quitting, but it sounds like he may not have had a choice.

People also shared about the big return of the show with Tyra Banks. The new season of America’s Got Talent starts airing tonight on NBC. The judges this season will be Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Mel B. Tyra Banks loves to have fun and you know she is going to be great as the host, but different than Nick Cannon. Fans loved him, and he worked very well with the constants. It is going to be interesting to see if Tyra can have the same dynamic that Nick had with the judges.
