‘Far Cry 5’ Lets Players Create Their Own Character, Explore The Entire Campaign In Co-Op

In a first for the Far Cry series, Far Cry 5 will feature a character creator and a campaign that can be completed entirely with a co-op partner. The first-person shooter takes place in Montana where The Project at Eden’s Gate is overwhelming fictional Hope County with its cult influences. In single player or two-player co-op, players will work with the Resistance in Hope County to stop The Father and The Heralds controlling the region with fear.

Although Far Cry 3 featured separate co-op missions and Far Cry 4 offered a co-op experience limited to side missions, the campaign in Far Cry 5 will be completely open to two co-op players together. Additionally, the title will also debut a character creator to the series. Players will be able to customize their character’s appearance and gender before starting their mission to stop The Father according to the Ubisoft blog.

In an open world, players will be able to traverse Hope County in vehicles like cars, trucks, and aircraft. A number of weapons will also be at their disposal including baseball bats, sledgehammers, handguns, assault rifles, shotguns, and even dynamite. Players will be able to further customize their characters in the way that they play with the items available to them in Far Cry 5.

The main objective in Far Cry 5 is to stop The Project at Eden’s Gate and aid the locals in overcoming the cult. As a single player or duo, players will work alongside hired guns and hired fangs to stop Joseph Seed, The Father, and his siblings known as The Herald. Up to three Guns for Hire can accompany players each bringing their own strengths to the cause. For instance, players can hire Nick Rye; a local cropduster being directly affected by the cult’s presence. Players can also fight beside animal companions like dogs, bears, and cougars as listed on the official Ubisoft forums.

“To take down the cult, players will need to utilize any and all weapons at their disposal, including ranged weapons such as guns and grenades as well as melee weapons like the baseball bat. Additionally, players can recruit Guns for Hire from a large cast of characters, or even Fangs for Hire, specialized animals like bears and cougars to complement players’ playstyles whether they’re going in stealthily or forcefully.”

These allies will help the player or players take on the cult and its many members. Even though Joseph Seed is the head of The Project at Edan’s Gate beast, his three siblings comprise the body. The oldest of the four is Jacob, a man with over 20 years of experience in the Army. The youngest is Jacob, a lawyer who primarily handles public relations for the cult. Finally, a half-sister named Faith is also deeply involved in the cult as she placates and controls existing cult members, keeping them in line according as noted on the Ubisoft website.
