Roman Reigns Promotes Match Tonight, Reminds Fans That ‘Raw’ Is His Yard

Tonight, the main event of Monday Night Raw will feature two of the men fighting in the number one contender match at Extreme Rules in action while the other three will face in a three-way match on the show as well. One of the men from the main event is reminding people of which of the two matches is more important as Roman Reigns took to Twitter to remind everyone that Raw is his yard.

In the statement on Twitter, Roman Reigns said that it didn’t matter if he stood with Seth Rollins or against him, that Monday Night Raw is – and always will be – his yard. This is a slogan that Roman Reigns started saying in the lead-in to WrestleMania 33 and his match with The Undertaker.

It is also something that reminds people of his win over The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33 and continues to take Roman Reigns one step closer to full heel status. Interestingly, the WWE is painting Seth Rollins as the babyface tonight in a tweet they sent out.

In the WWE tweet, they stated that Seth Rollins would have to set his friendship and respect for Roman Reigns aside when they fight tonight on Monday Night Raw. That is an interesting way of putting it, considering how The Shield was destroyed at the hands of Seth Rollins.

As a reminder to fans, when The Shield came into the WWE, they were villains hired by Paul Heyman to help protect CM Punk and his record-setting world title reign. Seth Rollins was considered the leader and “architect” of The Shield, Dean Ambrose was the loose cannon, and Roman Reigns was the muscle of the group.

The group ran roughshod over almost every in the WWE until that fateful day where Triple H convinced Seth Rollins to turn on Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, destroy The Shield, and set out to become a world champion himself. Out of that breakup, all three men went on to win world titles with Seth Rollins as the heel, and both Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns as faces.

The fact that Seth Rollins was the perfect heel when the group split up, the WWE saying he is the one who needs to put friendship and respect aside seems to be telling fans something. Much of that has to do with Roman Reigns and his actions that border on heel behavior.

Even when Roman Reigns was feuding with the “evil foreign” wrestler in Rusev, it was Reigns actions that were seen as more heelish.

When Roman Reigns proclaimed that Monday Night Raw was his yard, something that The Undertaker always said about the WWE in general, fans turned against Reigns even more. Roman Reigns beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, and it seemed the perfect time to turn Roman heel.

It didn’t happen. The next night on Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns came out, and the fans booed him for 10 minutes. Roman then just said it was his yard and left to more boos. The next week, when Braun Strowman was destroying Roman Reigns, fans started to cheer for the heel monster over the face Roman. Fans chanted that Reigns deserved it.

Now, Roman Reigns is heading into a huge match tonight on Monday Night Raw against Seth Rollins, and the WWE is painting Rollins as the ones fans might need to sympathize with. There are heavy rumors that the WWE will have Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins feud this summer and tonight’s match could see that start.

Roman Reigns tweet today that reminds fans that this is his yard also reminds fans that he beat The Undertaker. Once again, Roman Reigns is not playing the role of the babyface, and one wonders how much longer the WWE will paint him in that manner as well.
