Why Do 48 Percent Of Americans Want To Impeach Donald Trump?

Donald Trump is facing a lot of disdain over the past few weeks. First, his first foreign trip was heavily mocked when the footage surfaced online showing how his wife and America’s first lady, Melania Trump, avoided holding his hand. Secondly, his billion-dollar arm deals with Saudi Arabia were criticized by many liberals and media experts. There are many experts suggesting that impeachment is the only way to stop Donald Trump from making more mistakes. Not only this, according to a recent survey, 48 percent of Americans have decided that they do not wish to see Trump in the office anymore.

A Donald Trump impeachment is not happening soon — if it ever happens — but the talks about his removal are making Republicans worried.

Earlier this month, a report from recently held polls suggested that almost 48 percent of Americans are currently in favor of Trump’s impeachment. According to Public Policy Polling, almost half of all Americans who participated in the said survey were in favor of his removal when it was asked how voters stood on the issue of Trump’s impeachment. Meanwhile, 41 percent of Americans stated that they do not want him removed from office.

As reported earlier, the impeachment proceedings have been initiated against several American presidents. Both Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson were impeached by the House of Representatives, but they were later freed from all the accusations by the Senate. Trump’s alleged collusion with the Kremlin has prompted many to urge Congress to look into the evidence for his impeachment. According to the survey conducted by PPP, only 43 percent of American voters believe that Trump will be able to complete his first term, while 45 percent of voters think that he will not be able to serve the whole four-year term.

Meanwhile, there is a significant defection from people who voted for him in November. Fifteen percent of Donald Trump supporters are considering Sanders over him, and 14 percent would like to see Biden as their next president.

Even British bookmakers agree with the poll results. The British betting company Ladbrokes has officially cut down the price of a Donald Trump impeachment to odds-on 4-5 from 11-10. The latest impeachment odds equate to a 55.6 percent probability that the Senate will remove Trump from the office before he can complete his first term.

“Political punters are wondering how many more scandals can Trump overcome,” Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said in a statement. “And despite the short price on offer, money has poured in for the president to be impeached, leaving us with little option but to cut the odds.”

Apart from the polls, a recent report from the Economist Intelligence Unit has alleged that Donald Trump’s chances of impeachment are increasing with each passing day. The published report allegedly declared that Trump’s “young presidency” is in serious trouble. According to the research group, Donald Trump’s presidency is on the edge these days because of James Comey’s removal in the middle of a federal investigation, as well as his hiring of former FBI Director Robert Mueller.

According to the report, if it is proven that there was an obstruction of justice from Trump’s administration, then there are chances that the former business mogul will lose his presidency.

“Should the special counsel uncover a major obstruction of justice or the Republicans lose the House of Representatives in the 2018 mid-term elections, Mr. Trump would be in a perilous position.”

The Economist Intelligence Unit further believes that Trump’s “failure to separate himself from his business empire and his careless handling of classified information” creates a risk for his impeachment.

Do you think a Donald Trump impeachment is imminent and will happen because of his alleged ties with the Russian government? Will his impeachment be carried out because of some other reasons?
