Kim Kardashian’s latest pictures on Instagram have left her fans confused.
Kim Kardashian’s pictures have started look a bit retro, and her fans are not able to fathom how she gets that effect on her Instagram shots.
“Why her pics look like they were taken in the 80’s?” asked one fan.
The content of the picture itself wasn’t unusual. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star was endorsing a product–Fit Shakes in this case–and posted the following caption: “Finally found @fittea shakes for protein, fiber, and probiotics. Perfect after my workouts???????? Fit Shakes tastes amazing #ad.” In fact, she made it a point to indicate to her fans that the post was indeed an ad.
Kylie and Khloe have endorsed Fit Tea in the past, and this post too was commonplace. However, there was another comment on the picture about how it looked.
“How do you make your pictures look so old, kinda blurry, and gloomy?” said one.
This is not the first time Kim Kardashian’s fans have pointed out that ’80s effect on her pictures.
A week ago, Kim Kardashian had posted a picture of herself getting ready with her makeup people. The picture had the same effect and her fans noticed.
“Kim this edit is awesome,it seriously made your feeds pop out, love love love this, please go back to this theme.”
There have been many experts conjecturing how Kim Kardashian is giving that cool, vintage look to her pictures. Whowhatwear told its reader how to recreate Kim K’s pictures on their own. They indicated that Kim is perhaps using a Polaroid and then a photo editing app called VSCO. The publication then suggested using the filter HB2. After using the filters, the contrast needs to be adjusted such that the darkness in the picture is more pronounced. The publication also suggested using “highlights” might make the picture look as close to the Kim K pics as possible.
It’s one thing to recreate a certain kind of picture and another to look into why Kim Kardashian changed the appearance of her post. HollywoodReporter thought the reason Kim Kardashian is posting such pictures is that post-Paris robbery, she’s is indulging in “more Kennedy than Kardashian in its carefully-curated domestic myth-making.”
The experts are saying she is using Instagram as an artistic tool. “If you look at her whole Instagram, she’s playing with negative space and using the whole page by posting several images in the same style,” says LA-based events and advertising photographer Stefanie Keenan. “She’s using Instagram more as an artistic expression, and it’s more intimate.”
Others said Kim is trying to bring a slightly amateurish touch to her pictures. “She may have felt like she needed to switch things up a bit, and she’s done that,” says New York-based photographer Jonas Gustavsson. “Her shots are slightly off-kilter in composition and angles. They look like slightly untrained-photographer family photos from the ’80s. She might have a new assistant or friend shooting for her.”
However, it looks like no one really knows how Kim Kardashian is doing what she is doing. “It could be one of many things. She might be shooting them on Snapchat, filtering them and then importing them into Instagram and filtering them again, thus the heavy, blurry almost grainy film look.”
Gustavsson noticed that whatever it is that Kim K is doing, she is extremely uniform with it. “She does tend to be very uniform in her approach to how she shoots and what filters she uses, so one can only assume she will be using this approach for a while. She may also have an inside track to a filter that Instagram or Snapchat will be releasing soon,” says Gustavsson.
How do you think Kim Kardashian is getting that vintage look in her pictures?
