Erika Girardi Has Surgery For ‘Upper Body Tear’ From ‘DWTS’

Erika Girardi recently underwent surgery to repair an “upper body tear” that she suffered while competing on Season 24 of Dancing With the Stars. According to TMZ, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star felt something go awry while dancing with her dance pro partner, Gleb Savchenko, just before she was eliminated and it turns out, her injury was a bit more serious than she originally let on.

The blonde beauty kept dancing through the pain, however, and did not give up despite hurting herself on the dancefloor. Girardi, who often goes by her stage name, Erika Jayne, was voted off the show shortly after her injury, which may have been a blessing. According to the report, Girardi was advised by her doctors to not dance after getting hurt.

She may not have complied with the doctor’s orders at first, but she took her diagnosis seriously. On the Dancing With the Stars finale that aired last week, she sat on a unicorn and didn’t do anything major to stress her body out. She also did not participate in the group dance.

Despite the setback, Girardi said that she had a great time on the show.

“I love it. It’s great. It’s a challenge. Every week you learn something new…. I knew it was going to be a challenge… I take a couple of Aleve and I’m pretty good,” she told Us Weekly prior to her elimination.

Erika Girardi, 45, recently posted about her surgery on Snapchat. Although she didn’t give away too many details about what she had done, she made it clear that she was in the hospital.

“Girardi… posted Instagram Stories this morning chronicling a surgical procedure… Ever the ‘showgirl,’ Girardi joked in one shot that the ‘hospital lighting is amazing.’ In another, she wears a surgical head covering that obscures her flowing blonde hair, and a third picture shows the well-manicured nails on her right hand, which has been stuck with an IV needle and clamped by a pulse monitor,” People Magazine reported.

Girardi hasn’t posted anything on Instagram or Snapchat since having surgery on Friday. Fans are hoping that she is okay and that she will make a speedy recovery. As far as dancing goes, it is unknown how bad her injury actually was. If the surgery that she had was able to rectify the problem, she likely won’t have any issues getting her groove on as the fearless, sexy Erika Jayne in upcoming performances. She may, however, be forced to rest for several weeks to ensure that everything heals properly. Fans are hoping that she provides an update on her condition soon.

Erika Girardi joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2015. She has become a fan favorite on the show and will more than likely be offered a deal to return to the show for the upcoming season. Although she had a pretty dramatic season that was both personal and emotional, Girardi seems to fit right in with the rest of the Beverly Hills women. She has made some incredible friendships — and maybe some not-so-incredible enemies — but overall, it seems to be working out for her.

In addition to the show, Girardi has a successful music career with a few hit singles that have become increasingly popular following her time in the spotlight. She loves to entertain, and her fan base is super supportive of her — which always helps.
