Robert Pattinson & FKA Twigs Make Appearance In Cannes

Robert Pattinson and his girlfriend, FKA Twigs, were in Cannes together on May 25, marking one of the few times that they have made a public appearance as a couple since getting engaged in April 2015.

Pattinson, who attended the premiere of his film Good Time, looked dapper in a Dior tux while FKA Twigs donned a pink and yellow-hued Dior gown covered in a postcard print. Although the two were obviously together, Us Weekly reports that they opted not to walk the red carpet together. Instead, the singer was on-hand to support her man, but he was able to pose for official photos with his co-stars and the spotlight remained on the film rather than his relationship.

A clean-shaven Pattinson looked a bit different at the Cannes Film Festival. He sported a scruffy beard in Good Time and told reporters that it actually helped him stay rather incognito while filming.

“I was so nervous about people finding out about the shoot and then paparazzi being there, I mean it just destroys the whole illusion of it…. I was feeding into the character, where it’s basically you’re trying to disappear, you’re trying to be a ghost in a crowd and stuff. It was interesting… no one recognizes you. I mean, we shot an entire movie on the street in New York and not a single person even took a … picture – like, it was crazy,” Pattinson said during a photo call ahead of the premiere.

After Pattinson’s very public break-up with long time girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, he was determined to keep his romance with FKA Twigs out of the spotlight. Although Stewart and Pattinson had little choice when it came to publicizing their romance — because they fell in love while filming Twilight and were in the spotlight a lot because they were promoting the series — their split was even worse. Stewart cheated on Pattinson with Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. The news spread quickly, and Stewart issued a public apology, which likely embarrassed Pattinson even more.

Fortunately, FKA Twigs was on board with the whole “let’s keep our relationship private” thing. The two hardly ever talk about their relationship and have maintained that their love lives are no one’s business but their own.

“That side of my life [the paparazzi] is nothing to do with me. That’s, like, that is the… side of life of the man that I love,” FKA Twigs told The Observer in 2014. “Because that is the opposite of who I am as a person, and it was weird. Then I had to sit back and have a conversation with myself and I had to say, ‘That is something really horrible.’ No, not horrible, I don’t find it horrible, it’s something that’s very challenging. I look uncomfortable because I am uncomfortable. But then it’s like, is this person in my life worth that? And he is, without question… In comparison to how happy I am. And how I feel with him. It’s 100 percent worth it,” she added.

Unsurprisingly, Pattinson and Twigs have not shared any details about their wedding — that is if they’re even planning one.

You can catch Robert Pattinson in Good Time when it hits theaters on August 22, 2017.

“The film is about a bank robber, played by Robert, who is unable to evade those who are tracking him down. He goes through a dangerous and desperate journey to get his brother out of jail after a bank robbery goes wrong, while also trying to keep himself from law’s reach,” according to the Daily Mail.
