Best Horror Movies: This Free & Legal Site Is A Horror Fan’s Dream Come True

Move over Netflix and Hulu; a large collection of some of the best horror movies are now streaming legally and for free. Whether you love classic titles like An American Werewolf in London, or modern hits like House of 1000 Corpses, Tubi TV (an ad-supported site that hosts both television series and hit movies) has a vast collection of some of the best horror movies. Launched in 2014, the streaming company has an impressive catalog of over 50,000 titles. Their content partners include a list of huge juggernauts like Paramount Pictures, MGM, Lionsgate, and many more. Like Netflix, Tubi TV has a variety of titles from the most popular genres like action, drama, romance, and comedy. But unlike Netflix, the site also has a colossal amount of popular horror movies that their competitors don’t even come close to matching.

Tubi TV has an app for both the Apple and Android platforms, and their content can also be viewed via gaming systems, Roku, and more. Like Netflix and other streaming companies, they are constantly rotating their library and adding fresh content. Unlike most of their competitors, they even have a category listing the titles that are leaving soon.

The only downside, to some, is that there are commercials since it is a free and ad-supported company. But this doesn’t seem to bother the millions of people tuning in to the site (recent reports show that most viewers don’t mind ads as long as the content they’re watching is free). After all, many people are used to paying a monthly fee to Hulu which still has ads (Hulu subscribers have to pay extra if they want ad-free content).

TechCrunch expounds on the growing success of the company, and why it’s a great source for horror movies.

“San Francisco-based Tubi TV has raised an additional $20 million for its advertising-supported streaming service for TV and movies. Investors in the round are betting on the fact that the next big streaming competitor won’t be a direct rival to Netflix and others with a subscription-based business model, but rather a free service that offers a wide variety of titles for free viewing.

“Beyond the more well-known films, Tubi TV also partners with smaller, niche studios around the world, like anime and animation-focused Viz Media. Because of its numerous partnerships, the service’s library stretches across a variety of genres, like anime, international films and TV (e.g. Korean, Chinese and British TV), horror, sci-fi, fantasy, action, thrillers, drama, romance, reality TV, stand-up comedy, documentaries, docu-series, classics, cartoons, kids’ shows, martial arts, indie and more.”

In addition to their movies, the streaming company also hosts popular horror series like the first season of Scream Queens and both seasons of Masters of Horror.
