Spoilers might be ahead. Do not continue reading unless you want to know what to expect next season.

The Season 3 finale shared some familiar elements with the endings of previous seasons. For example, there was a surprise pregnancy announcement, a wedding, a bus ride, and there was even a gun. Also, Jane received a visit from Adam, who was her first love. He just happened to show up when Jane was going to tell Rafael (Justin Baldoni) how she felt. Then, Luisa (Yara Martinez) implemented her plan to take away Rafael’s inheritance and gain control of the hotel.

In an interview with Deadline, executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman revealed what to expect in Season 4 of Jane The Virgin. With Adam showing up in Jane’s life, how much will this affect the main character?

“Adam’s arrival definitely changes the course of Jane’s life and trajectory. Our show likes to construct, deconstruct, and reconstruct the idea of ‘meant to be.’ Whereas Jane started off believing whole-heartedly in the idea that you are ‘meant to’ be with one person, as she matures, and the show matures, we look at that question, and ask if it’s really true. Or is life, and romantic love, more about timing? We are, of course, always teasing out the possibility of Jane and Rafael — but we aren’t looking at a traditional love triangle with those three. And I can’t say anymore!”

Each season of Jane the Virgin has used a theme. In the beginning, it was about Jane’s pregnancy. In Season 2, it was about motherhood, and Season 3 showed her growing up. What is going to be the theme for Season 4? It was revealed that it will be about Jane “recapturing the joy.” She was going to marry the man that she loved. Unfortunately, Michael was killed, which had a big impact on Jane’s life. Even though she lost Michael, Jane still has a lot to live for. Now, Urman wants her to fight for her joy, to chase after her happiness, and to create a new, evolved “happily ever after” for herself.

As for Rogelio (Jaime Camil) and Xo (Andrea Navedo), they will deal with Darci’s (Justina Machado) pregnancy. Rogelio and Xo are committed to one another, but the surprise pregnancy announcement will definitely be a challenge.

As for Rafael, it will be interesting to see how he manages without money. He will fight for control of the Marbella, but eventually, he will have to accept the loss. Rafael doesn’t win this one.

“Luisa is in charge! Rafael is out. And I’m so interested in telling stories about how Rafael adjusts to life without the trappings of great wealth and extreme privilege. Which is not to say he will give up the hotel easily; he definitely won’t. But at some point, he’s going to have to accept the fact that he doesn’t have money anymore. And seeing how his life changes is one of the storylines I’m most excited about for next year.”

One of the big storylines in the Season 3 finale of Jane The Virgin was Petra’s (Yael Grobglas) life being put in danger. The executive producer could not reveal much. She wouldn’t even say if Anezka would shoot her sister. However, Urman did tease that there is an “interesting sequence of events” regarding this storyline.

What did you think of the finale? Do you have any predictions for Season 4 of Jane The Virgin?
