Anna Wintour Rumors: Vogue Editor To Become US Ambassador

The Anna Wintour rumors have the Vogue editor-in-chief becoming the next United States Ambassador to Britain. According to the Daily Mail, the British-born editor of the US edition of Vogue magazine was one of Barack Obama’s most high profile fundraisers. The Anna Wintour rumors have her in line to top an ambassador shortlist being drawn up for Obama.

Louis Susman is the outgoing US Ambassador to Britain, and someone needs to be chosen to replace him within weeks. Obama is likely to reward Anna Wintour for donating tens of thousands of dollars to the US President’s election campaign and helping raise another $500,000.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, more Anna Wintour rumors had the Vogue chief helping the Obama campaign in other ways by pressuring the fashion news media to squish favorable coverage of Ann Romney’s choices on fashion. Meanwhile, First Lady Michelle Obama received plenty of compliments from the fashion industry and leading fashion designers even produced pro-Obama clothing lines.

Anna Wintour’s main competition for the US Ambassador job comes from Matthew Barzun, who was finance chairman for President Obama’s re-election campaign.

“A large number of Obama’s ambassadors have been fundraisers. Both these two fit the bill,” said a Democrat source in Washington.

“Anna Wintour is just the kind of figure who could be an effective ambassador. You’re a messenger boy or girl for the President to the host government and to the business and political worlds, but you’re also supposed to be able to throw a party. She’s obviously got fantastic connections in London and that would be an advantage. She’s the definition of a glamour pick. I can see it happening.”

What do you think about the Anna Wintour rumors? Would the Vogue editor make a good US Ambassador to Britain, or is this rumor just another example of the revolving door in Washington?
