New Samsung Gear 360 Camera Prices Revealed, Goes On Sale Starting May 25

It was earlier this year in March at the “Samsung Unpacked” event that Samsung announced its new 360-degree camera – the Samsung Gear 360. However, the company did not reveal the expected price and a probable launch date for the device. Nearly two months later, Samsung announced that the Gear 360 would go on sale across the U.S. starting May 25 – with a starting price tag of $229 – 9To5Google reports. Samsung also issued a press release announcing the release dates and pricing details for the new 360-degree camera.

In the press release, Samsung has confirmed that while the price of the camera would be $229, if you buy the Gear 360 along with either a Samsung Galaxy S8 or an S8+, you would be able to get the Gear 360 for just $49 extra. This deal, however, is only valid between May 25 and June 19.

Let’s now check out what the Samsung Gear 360 has on offer, shall we?

To start with, let us inform you that this version of the Gear 360 is the second iteration of the product. For the same reason, the product also adds in a bunch of improvements from last years variant. These include true 4K video capture (the previous version could only record at a slightly lesser resolution), support for live streaming for YouTube, Facebook and other platforms and not to mention, support for the iPhone and a lot of other Samsung smartphones. The new Samsung Gear 360 gets an 8.4-megapixel image sensor and also houses bright f 2.2 lenses on both its cameras. The camera also features Samsung’s software that lets users easily edit, convert and share 360-degree videos without much delay.

With the Samsung Gear 360 and its new flagship phones for 2017, Samsung seems to be on its path to regain the glory that it had lost after the Galaxy Note7 disaster last year – and if initial indications are to be believed, the company seems to be doing a really good job at that. Reviews of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8+ smartphones have largely been positive, and almost everyone loved the new design language. Looks like the Apple iPhone is going to have a tough time this year.
