‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Trailer Rumor: Luke’s New Look, New Character Reveals, And More

As the expected release of the full Star Wars: Episode 8 – The Last Jedi trailer draws closer, more information about what it has in store for fans continue to come to the surface.

Devoted Star Wars watcher and YouTuber Mike Zeroh is back at it again with exciting new details about the shots and scenes included in the Last Jedi trailer.

According to him, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) will be central to the full Star Wars: Episode 8 trailer. While the teaser featured him primarily through his voice, the second preview for the film will give fans a look at his new getup.

The Jedi master will be a very different man come Star Wars: Episode 8, and the trailer will make sure fans know that by showing some of his new gear. As hinted in The Last Jedi teaser, Luke Skywalker had a drastic change in perspective to the point that he believes the Jedi order should cease to exist. He has also been foraging for ancient Jedi artifacts, such as the books shown in the clip.

Luke did not have his lightsaber, at least not before he met Rey (Daisy Ridley). Zeroh said that what he has in Star Wars: Episode 8 are a compass, a walking stick, some sort of zapping weapon, and an orange backpack.

Clearly, these are not things that one would imagine Luke would have. However, he is no longer the man he once was, and the full trailer should give fans an idea of what the new Luke in Star Wars: Episode 8 – The Last Jedi is like.

Zeroh also said that there will be shots of the planet Ahch-To in the rain to invoke “a sense of darkness,” which appears to be the tone that this trailer is going for.

As revealed a few days ago, legendary composer John Williams put together a musical score specifically for this Star Wars: Episode 8 trailer. It is said that the track is dark side-centric.

Whether this applies to the general tone of the movie and not just the trailer remains to be seen. However, there are reasons to believe Star Wars: Episode 8 will have a sinister feel.

With the First Order looking to fire back at the Resistance in The Last Jedi and a confrontation between Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Luke with Rey, things are not looking sunshiny in Star Wars: Episode 8.

Despite the ominous undertone of the trailer, Zeroh said that fans would not get a glimpse of antagonist Supreme Leader Snoke and Benicio Del Toro’s character known only as the Man in Black with the codename DJ.

The reveal for these two will reportedly be saved until the release of Star Wars: Episode 8, which suggests that showing them in the trailer might give away details that should be kept secret for now.

As per previous reports, Snoke will have a fancy new look in The Last Jedi. His throne room and his headquarters are expected to be shown in the film.

More importantly, instead of a hologram, he will allegedly be shown in physical form in Star Wars: Episode 8. Much of the mystery about the character has to do with how he will be presented in the film, which could be why he is not getting screen time in the trailer.

The same goes for Del Toro’s ever-mysterious character. His name alone is being kept under wraps, which has many believing that he will play the role of someone known in the Star Wars lore.

While Snoke and the Man in Black will be no-shows in the dark side-inclined Star Wars: Episode 8 full trailer, fans will reportedly be treated with a glimpse of the new characters played by Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.

The former is said to play the role of Admiral Holdo while the latter will portray a maintenance worker named Rose. Both of them are on the side of the Resistance.

Star Wars: Episode 8 – The Last Jedi hits the cinemas December 15. The trailer is expected to be released in July.
